I have experienced this very same problem before. There is a small condensate drain hole in the rear of the freezer compartment on some model refrigerators. If it ices over, the condensate has no where to go but down through the louvers and into the refrigerator compartment. It usually drips from the center overhead area down on to the shelves and accumulates in the bottom until it runs out the bottom of the door.. One way to tell is to check the back of the refrigerator to see if there is a visible drain line (larger in diameter than the ice make water line) that runs from the freezer compartment down to the compressor area. You may want remove everything and defrost the freezer and see if the problem goes away.

If you have questions/concerns, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Even if this is a frostless refrigerator, I have experienced the problem where ice can build up and plug the drain. You may have to remove the bottom tray in the freezer to access it.

We have water leaking from the back of the frige, coming from under the area where the copper tubing connects from the wall to the actual refrigerator. I can't identify exactly what's leaking. I doesn't...

This can be an auto defrost condition. If your fridge is auto defrost, what happens during the defrost mode, ice build up is heated (in the area immediately near the evaporator coils, not in the main area) . This ice becomes water and drains out via a small tube, typically at the back or bottom of the machine. This water normally goes into a pan under the fridge, and evaporates without the user being aware of it.

If anything causes excessive ice build up (opening the door too much, door seal leak, etc.) then you get too much water and the pan overfills and spills out.

I suggest that you remove the pan from under your fridge, clean it, and put it back, and test to see if yo actually have anything wrong, or not.

This leak would NOT be refrigerant, as you would cease cooling if so. it is all condensation, which is physics and normal...

The defrost cycle is not working. After a predetermined number of hours of compressor running time, a timer actuates the defrost cycle, which stops the compressor and turns on a heating element to melt the ice. Either the timer or heating element is not working. Also, make sure the melted ice water is actually draining and not re-freezing.

My refrigerator has a leak behind the drawers on the inside . I have since had to put a towel at the bottom of the drawers or it will start leaking down the front and onto the floor every couple of days....

Moisture condenses out of the cold air inside the fridge. Many refrigerators have a drain tube in the bottom to allow the condensate to run into a drip tray under the refrigerator (behind the trim panel on the bottom) where it evaporates. Over time this tube can get clogged by food particles and the water backs up, eventually running over the bottom edge onto the floor. You can use a straightened out coat hanger or other stiff wire to clear it out. This should get the water back into the tray where it belongs.

Hi hope you can help, I have a 2 door fridge with a bottom draw freezer purchased new 2008 and I have lost the instructions. The prolem I need diagnosed is water leaking from the freezer draw. thanks.

Sounds to me like you have a leak, probably from an ice maker tubing connection or vinyl water supply tube itself. Have someone get a good flashlight and get a good closeup look at where the water is coming from. The water supply to the fridge's icemaker comes from the house wall, floor, or cabinet area of sink. Often they are connected to fridge, then someone moves the fridge to clean and the line gets run-over or tugged on too hard causing a leak. If that is cause, install a new line (hardware stores have these specific to ice makers, 1/4" vinyl or copper tubing) and it should be coiled several times in mid air near the wall, so if fridge is moved out it just uncoils not incurrs damage from un-noticed tension (full amount of water pressure in that little line).

2nd possibility for newer type fridge. All frost free fridges have a pan underneath that catches condensation from coils, from the pan the water evaporates into the air where balance is achieved and pan is never full. On rare occasions, like during moving, on some the pan isn't fastened down and can fall out of place, then condensation water from the coils falls to floor (not any great amount but some).

Common problem with fridges. Suggest you get behind the fridge and somewhere on top of the compressor, there is a small pipe that normally sits in a pan of a sort. You need to blow hard into the pipe which will release the blockage in the system and that will clear the line. Water will then start draining again onto the compressor. That will stop the water build up in your fridge.

unless something strange happened (like a spill) then the only component that has fluid in it is a large capacitor that is used to drive the magnetron ... if its case is ruptured then it will leak a few teaspoons of electrolyte .. thats a clear water or oil based liquid .. the failure of the aluminum case will cause a pop one time ... then its likelly the oven will quit working .. its also possible, if you have an outside vent for your microwave, that water is blowing into that vent down into the microwave .. check the exhaust to make sure its outside louvers are not damaged ..if it goes to the roof then make sure the rain cap is in place ..

GE JVM1650 Microwave Suddenly Stops

Your magnetron tube is leaking RF energy inside and zapping the main board. It is NOT dangerous as any leakage will be contained inside the unit. You will need a new mag tube and it is covered by a 5 or 10 year parts warranty. Call GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737or schedule online at www.geappliances.com
