This sounds like you have either WEP or WPA enable on the network you are trying to connect too. Are you connecting through a wireless network? If not try adding a passphrase using WPA-TKIP and see if that helps.

I have windows 7 running program on my computer, Well its not allowing me to upload the CD for Netgear to install the programs

to configure the netgear router and to secure its network. . . .1, first make sure that your laptop is connected directly to the netgear router via ethernet cable.2. after securing step 1, on your computer, open browser, ( internet explorer or firefox )3. go to the address bar, the one with the http:\\ and erase everything inside it.4. type in there, 192.168.1.1 or www.routerlogin.net.5. username is " admin "password is " password "6. you would see netgear set up wizard. 7. for wireless configuration, click wireless settings on the left side of the set up wizard.8. you can edit network name, and get your network security key under security options. make sure to choose WPA PSK TKIP. so that you can have a personalize network key9. the network security key is the " passphrase "then click apply.then your all set for wireless connectivity.you dont need the cd to have it work. just follow these steps

I have a netgear router and a belkin usb network adapter, i am tryng to connect to my computer upstairs but it can't find a signal. The computer upstairs does not come with a cd drive so i was unable...

the usb network adapter probably isn't working properly without drivers. You should be able to get the the drivers for your model adapter at the belkin website under support. Then if your laptop is lacking a cd drive you can just load the drivers on to thumb drive and install them from there. I hope i was able to help.

I have an netgear router, but dont have an cd drive to install the cd. My laptop is old. how would I install this

Connect your laptop directly to the internet (plug the Ethernet cable into your network interface) and download the drivers from the d-link website.

If you have USB ports, you can use another PC to copy the CD to a Flash drive.

I lost my cd to install how do i go by installing this router to my new laptop

you said that you are to connect the new laptop to the router.
Do you have any other computer already working through the router ?
If your other computers are working through the router then your router already set up and you don't need to run the CD. all you need to do is connect to the wireless network.
If this is the only one computer in your network and you are trying to install the router then you can do it manually also without CD.

Trying to install Netgear Router DG834G on Vista and failing!!

don't bother installing the router with the cd.

There isn't any drivers your computer needs, it just installs cr*p.

You will, however have to set up your router they didn't send it to you already set up.

If you bought your router from your ISP when you took out your broadband, its probably already set up. Simply plug the router in, plug it into the phone with a microfilter in, and watch the green lights on the front. If the 'internet' or 'dsl'light lights up green, it should mean your router is already set up.

Now, you should be able to connect to the internet by plugging the yellow lead in. if you can, then your router is definately set up.

Now you just have to set your wireless up. To do this you need to search for wireless networks. If you know how to do that , then locate your one (it will probably be called netgear something) click it, and click connect. If it asks for a network key, look for a sticker on the router, and it should have your network key printed on it.

Hope this helps. I've been a little vague in places but i'm not sure of your level of understanding

Regards

Tony
