Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have a multi machine licence for norton 2008, but cannot get it to load on my main PC. It seems to be infected by a programme that emulates virus protection and spyware protection software warnings, telling me that my machine is infected and that I should download antispyware software. This virus is preventing me from loading the Norton programme, which I want to do to get rid of the virus. any ideas. In an emulation of the red 'Security System Warning' window, it says that 'Abebot' has been detected.

Tip

Do you have Norton Anti-Virus on your PC.

8 out of 10 computers have Norton Anti-Virus installed on their PC. Or you getting message to tell you to update your subscription? If so read on.

Have you notice that your PC is slowing down, or you getting blue screens, is your PC slow to boot, those your PC shutdown really slow. Are you getting pop-ups stating that your PC is infected. These are all symptoms of an out of date Norton Ant-Virus subscription. Even if you have have a current Norton Anti-Virus subscription you may still be infected.

OK, so here is how to fix your PC. First if you do not want to use Norton Anti-Virus anymore you need to remove it. You need to remove it from the control panel add/remove programs. You also need to get the Norton removal tool from Symantec, which makes Norton Anti-Virus. Watch my video from more details. Click here

So now your PC should be running better than before. Remember once Norton Anti-Virus is removed you need to scan it for viruses and then protect it. I recommend and personal use Avast, it is Free for home users and it simply works. Avast does not slow down your computer and it updates everyday with a visual and audio indicators. What more could you ask for. I use Malwarebyte's Anti-Mal ware on-line protection in conjunction with Avast for total protection. You can get that here. Try the free version first and it will get all those infections that Norton Anti-Virus failed to protect. Then upgrade to the Pro version if you need it. Here is the site http://www.malwarebytes.org/.

So now your PC is virus free and protected. What else can you do. I would get Ccleaner from www.ccleaner.com, this is also a free utility that I use. It removes all those temp files and other junk that is slowing down your PC. I do not recommend any registry programs. If you have any those on your PC. You need to remove them, they do not work.

The last thing you need to get is to de-frag your hard drive. I use this one. It is also Free so get it. Click here.

So now you are done and your PC should be a lot faster and better. However if you are still having issues you need to reload your whole operating system. Most people do not have the original CD so you will have to get a professional to do this. If you need help with that you can visit my site at www.adjustservices.com.

I hope this tip was helpful.

How to remove a virus/spyware infection off your PC

I remove viruses for a living and I wanted to share the ways that I remove and protect a PC from future infections.

I have learned that 95% of all computers have some form of anti-virus or anti-spyware preinstalled on the hard drive. 100% of the time it is trial subscription. Which means it will only last 30-60 days. If you do not renew your subscription your PC will eventually become infected.

Here is my plan of action.
1. Go to the control panel and chose software programs. This will show you what is installed. Look for Norton Anti-Virus or Live Update. Norton is the most common installed piece of software that I run into, so let's focus on Norton. If Norton Anti-Virus is not removed completely it will slow down your computer. It will cause your computer to become infected. It will cause blue screens. Believe me I know and I have cleaned hundreds of PCs'.
2. In order to completely remove Norton off your PC. You need click here. This will take you to the Norton uninstall utility page. Pick the version that you have and run it. Reboot your PC. Make sure Norton is removed by checking into the control panel and then go to program icon. This will bring up a list of programs that currently are installed on your PC. Make sure Norton or Live Update is not present. If it is highlight it and click on remove.
3. Now you need to download Malwarebytes, click here.
This is a FREE tool that will remove almost any infections that are out there and may be out there. I only use the FREE version and it has created a lot of business for me. Run it and make sure you update it. Then do a scan. A quick scan works most of the time. If any infections are found, just remove and reboot your PC. You should be virus free. If this does not work boot to safe mode and run Malwarebytes again. Your PC should be clean.
4. Now you need good Anti-Virus. I recommend Avast. Again the Free Home version works for me. If you really need the protection go for the Pro version. Click here for a Free home version of Avast. Install, register and reboot. Your PC is clean and you are now protected.

I am attempting to install Norton Internet Security 2009. My McAfee Internet Security 2008 runs out in two days. Norton has indicated that I will have to remove an amount of existing programmes (about 20!)...

Norton will not replace the programs.

As long as you have the program disc, just re-install them after installing Norton.

Back up all data (saved documents) first.

Cannot manage to load norton security programme

hi there,

although, not specified what you did but i presume 2 actions:

1. Running the program and cannot be completely loaded, it means that there's a program that block your Norton Internet Security 2008 to run, and that might be a Virus or Trojan. or someone is hacking in your pc (might be). and this will happen, if your Norton Internet Security 2008 is not updated and/or you install an internet plug ins in some of your visited website and through that plug ins the website administrator has a link in your pc to access, but not all.

solution: try to uninstall and fresh install your Norton Internet Security 2008 but before you do that make sure that you have a supported docs like cd key and response code from Norton if any, to successfully install your anti virus. and before you install, unplug your connection from internet (install offline, after installation, update it and scan your pc).

2. you install your Norton Internet Security 2008 and cannot be completely loaded, it means that Norton program is corrupted. please have a fresh copy in cd if any and install it.

I suggest that the only people who can answer your questions are the people at Norton. Obviously, I wouldn't ring that phone number again, because you will only get the same people you have already spoken to. I suggest that you WRITE to the Manager at Norton. (You'll find their address on their paperwork) and tell them everything that happened, and ask them the questions you want answered. And then you'll be in a position to know whether they deserve your business or not, and whether or not you have what you paid for, and if not, what they are going to do about it. Ask if they will give a refund if you have not got what you paid for. And I think that if you got a Virus while you were supposedly protected by their product, then you definitely Didn't get what you expected to.

Hi
Antivirus 2008 is an adware program - a form of virus. You should be able to get rid of it using a good antispyware program or something like norton antivirus. If you do not have a program installed I suggest you try using spyware doctor:
http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/download/

That will help remove antivirus 2008. I also suggest you install an antivirus program if you do not already have one. I good free option is AVG antivirus:
http://free.avg.com/

Together these programs should help solve your problem and prevent further virus infection.

Hope this helps, good luck!

I've already purchased Norton antivirus 2008 with antispyware and loaded but my screen still blue and shows Warning spyware detected in computer & to install antivirus or spyware wich i did.

That blue screen sounds like a trick to me. Many viruses and spywares or the websites that distribute them make beleive that they are causing viruses then provide links to fake antivirus and spyware removal programs that actually make your system worst.

Use the Norton to purchased to do a full deep scan of your system. I also like to supplement my Norton by running the free scan at housecall.trendmicro.com when I suspect there might be a problem on my machine that Norton can't fix.

When i try to system recover my e-machines, it freezes in the recovery menu. What should I do?

This problem is caused by infected windows files.
Try scanning your complete system with a advanced anti-virus like AVG 8.0 / NOD32 or Norton 2008
