Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

The CD changer for my stereo (SA-PM193)jammed when I was changing from one CD to another. It looked like a CD was crooked, and I pulled it out. Then the tray wouldn't go back, so I pulled each tray except #4 out (It is too far back) and removed the CDs. I don't know if there is a CD in #4 or not. Can't see it. I pushed all but #5 (that is, #1, #2, #3) in all the way. #5 won't go all the way in; something is blocking it. Is it possible for me to fix this problem simply, or will I have to have it repaired? If repair is necessary, where should I take it? Richard Lacey, New York City (upper Manhattan)

The CD loading mechanism needs to be rebuilt. Hopefully when you pulled out the trays, nothing was broken inside. Assuming it only needs to be retimed, you can expect to pay the local labor rate. If you broke any of the gears, the parts souldn't exceed $15 or so. Most of the gears and parts are rugged. Look for a Panasonic authorized service center for the repair.

My panasonic SA-PM193 died after 3 hours of playing music after i added a 4 inch subwoofer and 2 small speakers

... whatever that tells us.

If you severely modified the load to the amp by running more speakers than it's designed to drive and/or at a lower impedence, well, are you surprised?

It only pushes around 25 watts/channel AT TEN PERCENT DISTORTION through a carefully and unrealistically limited bandwidth specification.

Running 'clean' (under, say, 1% distortion throughout th 20-20000hz range) it probably only pushes 10 watts/channel. Once an amp is taxed beyond it's clean abilities it will start to distort, badly, and distortion will kill speakers and maybe the amp itself.

When i press eject the disc tray wont come out

did you just get through changing cds??? if so, you may have loaded a cd crooked in one of the trays. when this happens the tray gets jammed. usually the only way to get the magazine out is to take the changer apart and try to get the cd back in the tray.

CD Changer doesn't work after changing battery on Jeep Liberty 20

The CD changer probably failed to establish it's link to the head unit when you put the new battery in.

Since you've already tried the clear button, I'd suggest unplugging the IP-BUS cable (black cable) from the back of the changer, wait a minute (literally, 60 seconds) and plug it back in.

Sa-pm29 cd-changer jammed

The loading mechanism needs to be rebuilt. There is also an engineering change that should be applied to this unit if it hasn't had the mod already. This is not a home repair. This unit should go to an authorized Panasonic service center.

Jammed CD tray system

You may have a disk that fell out of tray onto lower mechanism. Be careful when disassembling mechanism as they have timing gears that are positioned to perform certain functions

Cd jammed

Hi there!

That happened to me before and what I did was tried to press the eject button and carefully pulled away the changer and it worked.

You just need to be patient though since it took me days and proper timing before I took it out.

Hope this helps.
