Question about Compaq Armada E500 Notebook
I dont hav any software i was just given the laptop with the plug charger thing. when i turn it on it either says 1790 disk 0 error or it says non system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready. can i get it to work?
Get a new hard drive and reinstall software + OS

Not necessary.... check the bios and see if the bios can see thehard drive make sure that the computer knows to boot off of the hard drives and listen to the computer to see if the drives spin up

Provided that the hard drive is good, you should be able to boot with a windows xp cd, delete all partitions, reformat the partition and install windows on it. However if your hard drive is bad (which could be why you received the ntldr message to begin with) then you would need to replace it. But it wouldn't hurt to attempt reinstalling windows xp the way I described first.
