Question about Insignia Televison & Video

We baught an insignia from best buy in january. We were very please with it until about 2 months ago! Our 47" TV now has a green lines right through the whole right hand side! We were told there was a year factory warranty. When we contacted best buy on the problem they told us it would be a minimum of a $200 fix! What's a warranty good for if you have to pay to fix it? We would have liked a better solution! We were willing to pay more if needed be, but we didn't want to send our TV away and not have one for up to a month! We baught a expensive TV thinking it would last us a while! If we were to bring our broken TV in we expect to be going home with a new or a fixed in that day TV! Best buy is definatly making me think twice about ever going back there. I think there a bad name for your TV with there customer servise! They were rude and not easy to deal with! This is the 3RD major electronic I purchaseed from them. All 3 were with in a 5month or less period of time before I had to bring them in for repair due to factory mishaps. In the end everything ended up being double the price I paid for them just by paying for repair in which was sapouse to be covered by "warranty"

All these sets do have a 1 year MFR warranty, no way around that.

You need to get on the phone and not take no for a answer, less than a year old they have to either repair or replace it.

If no satisfaction, consider small claims court, I would like to hear what they say when you have 1 year warranty and it is not honored--

This is just a suggestion but what I have seen done is: customer takes unit back to place of purchase, with receipt and name and address and leaves it there, just walks out.

Now they have the set and your money.

People who take no for a answer do not get any help.

If you buy another set, consider extended warranty as 85% of these sets that fail do so in first year.


Times are hard enough now without these games.

Has audio, back light is one there are red, green , blue, white lines horizontal but no video


First, check all connections on the unit to see if anything is loose, or not it the right slot.
Second, try another input on the unit, like HDMI or compnent/RCA and see if that works. Sometimes a single input can go bad.
Third, make sure the device you're trying to play through the TV is working properly, best way to do this would be to try playing something else through the TV.
If that fails, I'm honestly unsure, all Insignia TV's carry a two year manufactures warranty, which Best Buy will gladly service for you.

My tv starts on at least the green button goes on, but we don't see nothing on the screen


Insignia are a low-end Best Buy brand, and as such their reliability is poor.

If you're plugged in, the inputs are set correctly and the power comes on on the TV but you receive no picture, there is an issue with the TV itself.

Insignia offers a 2-year warranty, but you must have the original box and must be willing to pay for shipping. If you lack the original box or your purchase was longer than 30 days ago and you didn't purchase the extended warranty from Best Buy, you're most likely going to need a new TV, as they cost more to repair than they're worth.

I CANT GET OFF THE SET UP SCREEN , MANGNAVOX 47" TV, NO UNIV. REMOTES HAVE WORKED, PRESS THE GREEN BUTTON TO PROCEED?


The TV was turn ON for the first time or the TV reboot/reset.
Universal remotes are not as "universal" as we like them to be. They only control a very, small amount of options for the TV.

You'll need the remote that came with the TV to fix this problem because it has the special RED, GREEN, YELLOW, and BLUE buttons you need.

Insignia TV is only showing 1/2 picture


You are having problems with component failure. This could be a simple problem of over expanded solder connections that have expanded beyond the contact points on the board. This is reffered to as cold or broken solder joints. The other problem amy be actual component failure, such as bad capacitors or semi-conductor components. The unit need to serviced. You can call the Best Buy customer support telephone line at 1888-237-8289 and give them the model number of your television and the problem you are having. They should be able to give you a evalution and esimate of the repair costs. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

I would take it back. I know from purchasing an Insignia LCD from them a while back, the TV just died after about 4 or 5 months. They ended up offering me another TV or with store credit. I took the store credit and chose another TV. I also did not have a warranty. I was told since it was Insignia (which is a Best Buy house brand) that replacing it was not a problem. Good luck.

Best thing you can do is call 888-Best-Buy and schedule a service call. I wish i could tell you if it would be a repair or replace situation, but that will greatly depend on the part availability for your TV.
Insignia parts are often very hard to find (only 2 or 3 parts vendors in the US) so the sooner you call the better your chances of a quick repair.

Heat the bridge rectifier with a blow dryer and see it turn right on.
