Question about Frigidaire FEF336BC Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Have an FEF336BC Electric Range, the oven will not heat to correct temp. I hear oven "click" like it closes a relay. Any ideas to where to begin with the trouble shooting?

The problem is usually the element has failed. The clicking is the relay, that is a good sign the main board is probally good. First check to see if the element gets warm at all if it does replace the element if not, you will need to see if it is getting power. Here are a couple links that should help

Why does my fridgeaire stove lock only when i preheat bake?

It locks so that you can't open the door untill oven is at temp. Some people open and close, open and close the door and the oven never gets to reach set temp. After it is at temp, the oven can "catch up" faster, returning to set temp.

Oven won't heat up to set temperature

IF THIS IS A GAS RANGE, AND IS USED ALOT, 4YEARS IS ABOUT THE LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THE IGNITOR FOR THE OVEN. IF THE IGNITOR IS WEAK, IT MAY NOT OPEN THE SAFETY VALVE. WITH A FLAT IGNITOR, IT REQUIRES 3.3AMPS TO OPEN THE VALVE. IF IT IS A ROUND IGNITOR, IT REQUIRES 2.8 AMPS TO OPEN THE OVEN IGNITOR.

IF THIS IS AN ELECTRIC OVEN WITH AN ELECTRONIC CONTROL, I WOULD SUSPECT THE OVEN SENSOR AS THE DEFECTIVE PART. AT ROOM TEMP, IT SHOULD READ ABOUT 1084 OHMS OF RESISTANCE.
IF IT IS A MECHANICAL CONTROL(WITH A KNOB) IT MAY BE ADJUSTABLE BY REMOVING THE KNOB AND INSERTING A THIN SCREWDRIVER UP THE SHAFT OF THE CONTROL AND TURNING A SCREW IN THE SHAFT TO CALIBRATE THE TEMP.
