We have had our new Frigidaire refrigerator for about 2 weeks and the ice still taste funny. What can we do?

Hello Kelly, I appreciate your post!
From my understanding the ice within your Frigidaire refrigerator tastes funny. Odors or taste within the ice can come from strong flavors of food within the freezer or refrigerator. You should discard your bucket of ice and allow it to make a new batch, also tightly seal any containers that may cause odor issues. You may want to attempt using an air filter to help clean and contain any odors within your freezer. I hope this information is helpful to you. -Matt

Model 795.76202.901 bottom freezer with in-drawer ice maker has smelly ice.

Hi,

You will have to conceder that ice cubes are like sponges. They will absorb odors from food or items within the unit. If the water entering the unit has no odor, the smells are from the food or liner within the unit. Here is a science experiment for you, try fresh coffee grounds, use this in both sections in an open container and the coffee smell will over power the smells but will absorb in the ice cubes. This will prove this issue. Consider using a deodorizer in the unit to absorb odors from uncovered foods and placed in both section within the unit. I hope this helps. Good Luck

Bad tasting ice/water/food

Have you put a few boxes of baking soda in the fridge to absorb the pungent odors? Do that.

There is a strange odor that affects the taste of food and ice. Also, the ice gets frostbitten and sticks together in addition tosmelling and tasting unpleasant.

To remove all smells from a fridge, defrost it completely, not using ANY heat.then wipe it out with clorine bleach, not forgetting the drain (if fitted).leave the door open to allow the clorine to "gas off"then turn it on and allow it to stand for 24 hours before loading up with your foodstuffs.(make sure ALL food is covered/wrapped to stop condensation/frost damage).i do mine EVERY year gives me an excuse to get rid of the beer.......

The water is leaking from the Ice dispenser and the food is thawing

Seems like the freezer is not getting cold enough. If the ice maker was leaking the water would freeze. It would not cause the food to thaw.

GE Profile Refrigerator with large puddles of water on floor.

First, your most pressing issue: the water on the floor.
Check for a blocked defrost drain. Take the panel off at the back of the freezer section and find the small hole at the very bottom center below the cooling coils. Use hot (but not boiling) water and a turkey baster to flush it out until water runs through it. (it will go into the defrost drain pan, where it will evaporate)
This will prevent water from coming out the freezer door and leaking onto your floor.
Now, for issue #2, your water dispenser: If you take the front grill off, you will see a plastic tube going through the hinge. There is a coupler, usually a insta-push type just before that. If you push on the collar of the fitting toward the center of the fitting while pulling (not real hard) on the tubing, the tube will come off. Now, try the water dispenser to see of any water comes out the disconnected tube. If yes, comment back to me to see how to fix this, if no water comes out, you most likely have a bad water valve. Reconnect the water line by just pushing it back into the fitting. Disconnect the outlet side of the water line at the water valve and try the dispenser again. No water out the valve almost always will be a bad valve. (there are rare exceptions) Water out valve now when dispenser is pressed equals a frozen water tank or water filter in the fresh foods compartment. Issue #3, your uncovered foods: All the cooling for a refrigerator takes place in the freezer compartment, and some of the cold air is circulated into the fresh foods compartment to cool it. As the air is circulated throughout the entire refrig / freezer, air picks up and transfers odors to uncovered items, including ice. Cover foods and use an open box of baking soda to help absorb odors. Issue #4. (was there a #4?) Oh yes,..... why are you dealing with this? Tell the landlord to have a service company come and check it out. You don't pay the service company, you pay the rent. Landlord is responsible for the repairs.

Ice and Refrigerator and Freezer smell like alcohol chemical

I believe that you might have a coolant leak causing the chemical odor. You really should get it checked out by a fridge repair-person because it's not healthy to breathe in the fumes.

Fresh Food Compartment not cold enough

check freezer for frost build up and if fan blowing, check condenser make sure clean, and fan blowing, check vents in refrig. make sure no blockage, freezer control should be in the middle setting, you can try turning that to Warmer freezer allowing MORE air to refrigertor side.
