Always connect to your router with a wire to get it setup. You will have to configure the wireless before it will accept connections. This can be done through the routers web interface one you are connected to it with a network/cat5 cable. the web interface can be reached typically at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 instead of typing www type the numbers.

sorry to hear you still cannot connect. Sometimes this happens as a result of a changes to the WPA passcode, or incorrect WEP key , even though it "Appears" to be connected, is is not. please change your transmit channel, and access key. Then try connecting again. Use the wire first to make the changes and verify your computer can surf while connected physically, (also to rule out any computer issues) cheers. hope this helps you

You can manually access the routher by typing 192.168.1.1 into the web browser once it has connected to the internet. You then can set up wireless access points and set a WEP, etc for security. This would also allow your adaptor to connect to the router once you have set everything up. The default username and pass for routers is usally: User: admin ...password: password

Not sure if this is where you are looking, but it probably is. click START then CONNECT TO then SHOW ALL CONNECTIONS then right click LOCAL AREA CONNECTION click STATUS then SUPPORT,,,
or CONTROL PANEL then NETWORK CONNECTIONS then right click LOCAL AREA CONNECTIONS then click STATUS then SUPPORT tab
See what you have there for an IP address
Is it the computer you don't have an IP for or the router? In my case my computer IP the 8th or last digit is the next number after what it is for the router. The other numbers are the same

Most laptops have a wireless card built in them and if you have one you should try using that instead and form past experiences USB adapters don't generally work on laptops in which case if you laptop has the slot for it you should buy a card like this http://www.netgear.com/Products/Adapters/SuperGWirelessAdapters/WG511T.aspx
