How can I reinstall sound to my Toshiba lap top?

Assuming Windows XP (Vista is similar), go to the toshiba website support and download the appropriate sound drivers for your model. Then hold down your windows key and press the pause/break key. Select the hardware tab, then select device manager. Click the + box next to "sound, video and game controllers". Right click the audio drivers and select uninstall. You can now install your new drivers, usually just by double clicking the download.

Of course, you should go to start>settings>contol panel>sounds and audio devices before doing all that to see if it may just be a setting that is off.

I have two Toshiba lap tops, I had the same problems which you have, tell you the truth, I took them to Bevely Hills factory warranty shop changed the mother board and then after eight months, I had some other problems, total five times in the repaire shop and finally passed the warranty. It is totally gone.

I know this can not help you at all, remember four years ago, Toshiba been suit, finally I got two years factory warranty for my lap tops, I wasted too much of my time to solve the problems but both lap top I can not use anymore,

Hi Lisa,
Somehow you have activated the startup sequence request in the msconfig utility. Start up your laptop, press F8 till you come to the boot sequence options menu, select Safe Mode, hit ENTER wait, then when in safe mode, a warning wndow appears just informing you that you have started in Safe Mode ... bla bla bla... Click OK. Then press start button, go to Run.. and in the dialogue box type msconfig and hit ENTER. In the msconfig utility window check on the dot next to Normal Startup - Loda all device drivers & services. Click apply & Ok then Restart your unit. I think this should solve your problem.
