After a wash cycle, there is water sitting in the gasket around the door. This water smells after a few days. What is to be done?

Make sure the washer sits level front to back and side to side. Wipe away any water and leave the door ajar to let the inside dry out. If the whole washer insides smell, run an empty cycle with hot water, detergent, and baking soda to refresh. Hope this helps!

Moved into home and dishwasher runs threw the cycles...does not spray water on dishes water sitting in the bottom?? Something blocked or not connected?

check if there is water at the bottom of tub when it's going through the cycle. If there isn't, i'd suspect a burnt out water valve

Water does not drain. does not sound like pump is running. drain lines are clear. do i replace, do i repair.

That will depend on how old your dishwasher is and how much repairs have already been done to it in the past.

So it appears the water just sits at the bottom at the end of the wash cycle - is that right?

Not sure what make or model the dishwasher is, but are you getting any error codes or flashing lights?

I could look into the problem further if you can provide more details.

Soap problems

Either:

1. not enough water gets into the dishwasher. open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some (quite some) water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.

Good luck,
