I can't read my email where I've been told that I need to unblock my pop-ups. How do I unblock my pop-ups?

It sounds very fishy that your email is requesting you to turn off your pop up blocker. Try scanning your computer with a free adware scanner. I recommend adaware or spybot s&d.
If that is not your problem, your pop up blocker is usually located in the tools section under add ons if your using firefox.
In internet explorer, its under tools and disable pop up blocker.

Tip

Block Ads

advertisements are annoying to all of us. They do create revenue for sites, but most of the time ,they are of little importance to the user and all they do is nibble away at your bandwidth. Sometimes, they can show inappropriate content as well. We are going to look at ways to disable or at least hide the ads off the screen with pretty much any of the most used browsers.Ad Blocking In Firefox
Ads come in all forms and pop ups are one of the most annoying ways of which ads make their way on to the screen. Firefox, like most other browsers today, stops pop ups from appearing on the screen.
For blocking of advertisements, there is an extremely useful and well known add-on called Adblock Plus. Get it fromhttp://adblockplus.org/en/. Click on the Installation link to go to that page to download the add-on. You have to click on the Allow button on the right top of the Firefox window to permit the add-on to be downloaded and installed. Restart Firefox.
Once Firefox starts, choose Tools > Add-ons. Click on Options for the Ad block Plus add-on. Click on Filter > Add filter subscription.Use the drop down for Subscription title and choose the lists you want to add and click OK. Follow the steps to add additional subscriptions.Once added, click on Filters > Update all subscriptions. Click OK.
Ads should now be blocked by Firefox, and even if you do find some adsthat do make their way through the filters, right click on the image ofthe ad and click Adblock image…
Flash elements can also be disabled by using the Flashblock add-on forFirefox. This can be downloaded and installed from http://flashblock.mozdev.org. Flash elements will only work when you click on them.

Ad Blocking In Opera
Opera has a built in popup blocker and an ad blocking feature as well.Using the ad blocker is as simple as downloading a text file andputting in the right folder. Opera’s ad blocking works by referring toa file called urlfilter.ini. There are many users who keep regularlymaintained lists of ad hosts and domains.
One of the most famous one and most used ones is Fanboy’s Adblock List(www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/) Click on the Install now link or visithttp://fanboy.co.nz/adblock/opera/urlfilter.ini. Save the file as it isto a folder and then move it to C:Documents andSettingsYour_User_IDApplication DataOpera_folderprofile. Linuxusers must copy to the .opera folder. When done, restart the browserand ad blocking will be enabled. Visit the site from time to time toupdate your ad block list.

Ad Blocking In Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer has been heavily criticized for letting popups andads run loose but it too has a 3rd party add-on that users candownload. It is called IE7Pro and can be downloaded fromwww.ie7pro.com. Click on the Download Free, download the installer andrun it. In the last few steps of the installation you will be askedwhether you want to enable spellchecking and if you want to setEasyHome as your homepage. Uncheck the boxes if you don’t. Click Nextand finish the installation.
Restart Internet Explorer and you will find an IE7Pro icon in thestatus bar below or a button for IE7Pro Preferences in the toolbarabove. Click it and then on AD Blocker. Enable Flash blocker to blockflash items from web pages. You can also add your own filters in the MyFilters tab. IE7Pro brings many more features than just ad blocking toInternet Explorer. Prefetching and mouse gestures are just some ofthese few features.

Universal Ad Blocking Across Windows
Ads can also be blocked across all browsers and applications running inWindows. This is done through a file called HOSTS that is located inC:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc. Like the urlfilter.ini list that wasused for Opera, similar lists are available for Windows. The listredirects domains to other domains or IPs. This way, none of the adscan be downloaded to your browser. Manual entries can be made byopening the file in a text editor. If you download a HOSTS file, copyit to the path mentioned above.
It is also a good idea to also have a spyware removal utilityinstalled—they not only block ads, but malware and trojans as well.Spybot (www.safer-networking.org) for example is one of such software.Keep it updated and run it from time to time and keep safe distancefrom possibly dodgy links and your PC should be just fine!

Hate to tell you this, but BackWeb is adware . If you have recently used Ad-Aware or SpyBot, it may have removed this, but not whatever is trying
to execute it. I would recommend downloading Ad-Aware, update it, and
run it again wink.gif

Mostlikely you are infected with either a Virus or a peace of spyware. Go get Ad-aware http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2008/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5&cdlPid=10844457 and install it and run a scan on your comptuer. when you are done with that go get Spybot Search and destroy http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10861988 and install/run it. once you are done go to http://housecall.antivirus.com and run a free virus scann.

if this doesnt help please give us more information. What email system are you you using? Yahoo? Google? and are you using Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Thunderbird, or something else to check your email?

When ever I try to get my mail from yahoo I get an error for yeildmanager

pop up blocker installed?

sounds like spyware blocking content.

download spybot from download.com

run it, immunize your system, delete the bad stuff..

Its free, and it cleans up the messy adware programs that have corrupted your IE. Or you can reset your web browser and clean off the messy blocker.

Easy way otherwise

Click TOOLS on IE
Click INTERNET OPTIONS
click the tab ADVANCED
go to the bottom or side where it says RESET
Click it, click ok, close IE, open IE.

Sounds like you have spyware, adware, and maybe even a virus. Try using lavasofts ad-aware personal edition, or spybot search and destroy, or avg anti virus. To get rid of the infection. If that doesn't work maybe try Norton or you might have to re-install windows. Sorry try those and see what you can find. Hope this helps. M~

DELL DIMENSION 3100 PROBLEM

Even the best pop-up blocker may let a few through. If you are getting more than a few (especially if they are occurring when you are not actively browsing the web), I would highly recommend downloading, installing, and scanning with a free program called SpyBot Search & Destroy. This will remove any spyware/adware that might be causing your added pop-ups.

Pop ups

It sounds like perhaps you have been hijacked or have a virus or some sort of spyware/adware. Using a wireless router shouldn't mean that you'll be bombarded with popups, but be sure you have your firewall running and security enabled on the router, just to be safe.

That said, try running a virus scan with whatever anti-virus you have installed. If you don't have anything, use TrendMicro's HouseCall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/). That I believe also will, or will give the option to, check for adware/spyware. If it doesn't, or if it doesn't find anything, try downloading a program like Spybot Search & Destroy (a personal favorite). You can download it here. Run a scan with Spybot and delete anything that it finds. Make sure you've set up Backups in the Spybot options first, and take a system screen shot via System Restore before you do anything.

If you need additional help, please let me know. Hopefully this helps though!

Good luck!
