Does your computer recognize when you plug it into it? Have you installed the software/drivers for the printer? You can download them at the following link just select your operating system:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=228&product=90809
Then run the software after you download. If you need further assistance let me know.
Thank you,

Sir/Madam

1. Is the printer turned on?
Make sure the printer is turned on.
Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into the electrical outlet.
Test the power by plugging in the power cord of another electrical appliance to an electrical outlet and turn it on. If the power to the other electrical appliance comes on, the printer may be considered to be faulty.

If you are connecting the printer to your computer via a USB hub, connect the printer to the first-tier hub from your computer. If the printer driver is still not recognized on your computer, try to directly connect the printer to your computer without the USB hub.

Connect the Printer Cable to the back of the computer. Then plug the electrical cord into an electrical outlet and turn it on. You will need the printer software next. You should have a CD with the Printer Driver. If you don't have it, go to the web to the Printer Company's webpage and download the Printer Driver. You will need the model of your printer and also need to know what operating system your computer uses in order to download the right printer driver. Once you download the Printer Driver, you run it and it will install the driver for your printer.

I have no idea what is wrong with my scanner. My computer won't even acknowledge it's existence anymore. But the printer function on my HP 2355 works fine.

1. Verify electricity
2. Verify connected to computer still. (USB assumed)
Unplug it and plug it back in at both ends of the wire. Make sure USB is not in a network port.
3. Pull electric from printer 3 min. Restart computer.
4. Test; if no joy reinstall printer, but do not plug in USB until asked for it.

Blue screen with multifunctional printers

Normally the USB hub is design to connect to the device that doesn't consume electricity like handy drive,MP3 player. So in your case the multifunctional printer, I think this one really need a direct connection to your PC,instead of going through USB hub.Try to move some other device to connect to this hub and connect your printer directly to PC..due to many restriction with printer like electricity,port,etc...

My HP Deskjet 5550 suddenly doesn't come on at all

Try connecting the printer to your old machine again, if it works it sure that nothing is wrong with printer.

You should check your laptop USB connection for electric leakage. use a multi-tester or something like that. Sometimes electric leakage will cause damage to the USB devices.

My printer just wouldn't turn on

Good troubleshooting. Disconnect your printer from the PC and try the following:
Go to "Control Panel" -> "System" and click "Device/Hardware Manager". Check that "Show Hidden Devices" is checked inside "Options" and delete the USB ports it has listed, restart windows to have it re-install them and connect your printer. does it show any life signs?
