Question about Flat Panel Televisions

1 Answer

Fuzzy picture Until recently the hd picture on my tv has been absolutely crystal clear. It has slowly crept up on us but the clarity has gone. Sky replaced the box, no change. Engineers tested the tv, no change. Picture has become very pixelated (if that is a real word) and fuzzy in darker parts of the screen.

You need to test it using a DVD player or Blueray player.

If you still get the problem, call that tv service company back and tell them the problem is with the TV.

Get them to test it while you're watching so you can point out the fault to them.

If it works great with a DVD player, then the fault is likely with your Sky box. Here you would really need a second portable TV to test your sky box with. This would confirm the fault is not in the TV.

I have a RCA LCD TV model no. RLC3708A and when hooking it up when I took it out of box, I got to

I think you are confusing the channel on the tv and the channel of the cable company that is not something that you can pick up with the scan tv, scan tv is good for picking up local channel meaning air channel that we get with a antenna only not the cable chanel

Just bought the Samsung 550 Plasma Hd Tv can you tell me if we just use a regular cable from the wall to the Tv will the picture quality be sort of off.. WE have an HM MI cable from the cable box to the TV...

unfortunately cable does not give you the best quality picture and "fuzziness ' is the reduced resolution being displayed on the tv.
the easy way to check the picture quality is to get a decent hd antenna and scan using it for free hdtv signals, if these are also fuzzy, on all channels then the tv has a problem but if it is only on a few lower resolution channels then its just the way it is until everyone is hd 720 or better.

Picture is fuzzy

Do you have a HIGH DEFINITION satellite / cable SERVICE? Unless you are specifically set up to receive HD - your picture will still be back around 400 lines - and both LCD and Plasma HD units are notorious for looking WORSE when viewing NON-HD PROGRAMMING.

Unless your DVD is capable up converting up to (pseudo) HD, don't expect much there either.

Not sure how the INSIGNIA is set up for inputs, but good old Wal*Mart sells a FANTASTIC UNIVERSAL REMOTE called AVEX that is an absolute JOY to program and work with - and it's only about $20!

Put a DVD in your player and turn it on and let it play. I doubt that you are actually looking for a "CHANNEL" - but instead an *input* that is electronically controlled by your tv.

Go to the "TV" position on your remote and find the "INPUT" button. Pressing it should bring up a menu of different inputs that your tv has. Use your center UP/DOWN button to switch inputs until you see your DVD playing through one of them.

TV turning off

It needs a 27mhz crystal replacing 1h00 on the board in the middle if the led is flashing 5 times. This requires a rework station and is a professional job.

Poor screen resolution and unable to get channel guide.

The channel guide is a service just like closed caption. Rumer has it that it's not going to be around for much longer. The only fix is to unplug set ..wait awhile till memory loss occurs...plug back up and do a setup. Nothing in the TV will cause partial guide. Weak signal could and cause fuzzy picture too. Complain to cable company. But brightness problem is something else.

FUZZY (SNOWY) PICTURE

Well, I can tell you it shouldnt have anything to do with your not having an HD box. The TV does not require a HD signal to give you a quality picture. The HD box only gives you the enhanced HD signal, but should work as any regular TV without it. How do you have it connected?

Change your input source. You are probably on Input Source "TV". My HDMI cable is plugged in INPUT 4 so make sure that your TV is set to the right INPUT.
