Hello,

I checked your unit under Garmins recall section and your unit has not been recalled for battery issues. If you enoy your units MP3 feature and FM transmitter I would recommend sending it in for warranty. Otherwise it may be cheaper to purchase a new unit.

Hope this helps!

Nuvi 750 battery will not hold a charge. Unit works fine if plugged into the auto power. What might the problem be? What is the estimated cost of repair.

Sounds like you just have a dead/bad battery.

You can check to see if your device was included in a recent battery-related recall here:
https://my.garmin.com/rma/recallLanding.faces

If your unit is not included in the recall and you are (or a friend is) handy, you can buy a replacement on the net and replace it yourself for around $25 (US Dollars):
http://vimeo.com/8387716
(There are other sources for the battery, I do know if the linked company is trustworthy.)

I'm not sure what Garmin charges for this type of service?

My Garmin Nuvi 260 is not on the recall list but will not charge or stay on - it does start up but after allegedly loading the maps, it turns off

The recall is for an overheating battery issue which can potentially cause a fire. Your problem is totally unrelated and is most likely simply due to the rechargeable battery being exhausted.

Replacing the battery is supposed to be a Garmin service centre job, but they charge silly money for it. Do it yourself instead, click here for a free instructional video.

Good luck, please take a moment to rate my reply.

Send it back to Garmin. The fault may be coincidental, but unless you fancy buying a replacement model it's worth seeing what Garmin have to say. It should only have been a straightforward battery swap, but if the technician forgot to wear an earthing strap it's entirely possible that a component suffered static discharge damage.

I've been holding back from sending my nuvi 770 in as the battery seems fine and I've often had problems with shoddy recall work on digital cameras and similar devices in the past.
