You can go to Device manager on your computer and Uninstall the CD/DVD drive. The make sure you install the driver again. Meanwhile you can use something like Deamon tools to emulate a drive and run iso files

Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

Copying a CD - How do I go from the DVD player to the hard drive and back to a blank CD? It's a Toshiba L300

Hi,

Pop your music CD into the drive and open it with Windows Media Player. In Media Player there is an option to "Rip" or "Copy" the CD.

Choose one of those options and copy the CD to the hard drive. After its been ripped you can then select the burn option and copy it to a blank CD.

It's as easy as that, however you cannot do this with DVD's just music CD's.

Please post back if you require anymore advice.

Regards.

My Acer travelmate 2492wlmi wont detect or play DVD's/CD's anymore. Even when I go into My Computer the drive (E) does not appear at all. Any suggestions/remedies would be greatly appreciated? Regards

Uninstall the drive and reinstall again. If it still does not recognize it, shut down the system, loose the drive, put on the system and allow it boot without the DVD/CD drive, shut down the system again, carefully connect the DVD/CD drive back into your system and turn your system back on, I believe it should respond by now.

Make sure the DVD/CD drive is well fixed.

Take care

try and roll back the drivers...also another way is to try and boot your machine off the cd drive..if it boots of the drive then you knoie that the drive is working and it is a driver error..if it wont boot off the drive the drive is probablly bad..make shure when trying to boot off the drive that you change your settings in your bios to for to boot from cd..
