It is not compatible with Windows Vista. Go to the manufactures web site or call them and see if they have any advice.

I have an older version of Compton's "Real Science" . Is it possible to install this on my new computer running windows 7

Not exactly. If you have windows 7 professional, or ultimate, you can try installing windows XP mode. Go to microsoft's website for it. you will then be able to install the program under the new virtual XP installation, and it will then be available for use under XP mode programs list. it will run in an XP style window. It's pretty neat. Otherwise, it's quite difficult to make 16 bit programs to work on a 64 bit operating system. there are ways, but it takes a great deal of computer know how, and how to work with some fiddilly software.

Can I copy the disc to a pen drive and run from the pen drive which is more convenient than running from the CD?

Yes you can do that. you copy files to your cd to your pen drive and then run the applications .exe file.
But there are some instances that you cannot copy a file from cd to pen drive or even to computer.
This instances is caused by CD that is copyright protected. it means that the files of the CD is not allowed by the Producers to be copied. Also, if your CD is bootable, when you transfer the files to a pen drive, your files will not be bootable anymore.

Hope my solution helped. Thanks for using fixya!

I am running Vista. I have loaded an older version of Comptons Interactive Bible. It loaded, installed just fine,. I cannot view the videos. I get a view error. Can this be fixed?

First, make sure the software lists your OS (Operating System) as compatable. If Vista is not listed it may not ever work correctly or you may need to download a "patch" or driver to make the software function as designed. Next, you should contact the software manufacturer directly and see if they have a fix or patch for you specific problem. And lastly, it may be a problem with the software or drivers on your machine. Can you play other video software that is similar in nature? What is the year of release on the Comtons software?

Recently purchased a new computer with windows 7 and the version I have says it won't install. Is there a new version that is compatible with windows 7 available?

What version of Windows 7 are you running? You may have to run in XP compatible mode. You can do this by right clicking the installer/application and going to properties. Then go to the compatibility tab. In here you can select different options, I would suggest checking the "Run this program in compatibility mode for: " option and then selecting the operating system the program was built for. I have heard that others were able to run this version on windows 7 using this technique. Hope this helps!
