Question about Brother Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

We had a recent power outage for approximately 5 hours. When the power came back on, I started typing again on my BROTHER SX-4000 typewriter. What I was typing was not was being printed on the paper. I pressed the reset button, and began again. Still no luck! I turned the power off and unplugged the machine for about an hour. Plugged it back in and turned it back on. Still no luck! Hit the view button. What was being viewed was correct, but still no luck in printing the correct printing. Help!!??

The P/W homing pawl is probably broken, you need a tech.

I am having a problem with the sx-4000 typewriter. Every key that I hit on the typewriter is not typing correctly. What do I need to do to fix this?

Printwheel in wrong. release the printwheel, make sure the pin is aligned with the slot on the hub and snap it back in. The printwheel should spin, then home out to the left margin, then it should be ok. If not try it again.Check to make sure no pedals on the printwheel are bent.
Hopes this helps!

I have a brothers sx-4000 typewriter, i recently bought new ink ribbon. But for some reason my typewriter still does not print the letters at all. I know my typewriter is still good, I dont know why it...

There are two things that people mess up when changing printwheels and ribbons. Is that the ribbon is not in the guides properly. The other is that the latch the holds the type wheel is not locked in the forward position.

With power off, remove the ribbon and look down inside the carriage assembly on the right hand side. Look close and you will see a white gear, you rotate that gear, either way about 1/2 a revolution. Power on and try typing, if it works you can put in the ribbon and go, if not, rotate the gear somr more.
