Question about HP Pavilion ZV5220US (PF143UA) PC Notebook

1 Answer

Bought 1G ram from local computer store. It runs for about 5 minutes then i get a blue screen error and reboot. returned to store for a different mem stick...same issue. went to Crucial, found the memory, customer reviews say they love it except the HP zv5000 series notebook....doesn't work. Called HP they dont carry the mem anymore....suggested i go to Crucial. Has anyone been able to upgrade the ram on an HP zv5000 series notebook?

One of the slots is not accessible, so the only option was to pull old ram and insert new.

Did you remove the "old" RAM, or did you add the "new" RAM to the old RAM?

Try using your computer with ONLY the "new" RAM installed.

Try using your computer with the "new" RAM in the 1st slot, and the "old" RAM in the 2nd slot.

My hp pavilion desktop is blue screening.

Hi,
Is your computer infected with the XP blue screen error? This is the error that shows up as blue screen with white text, and there is usually no way to recover the computer, except to restart it. For some people, the blue screen may go away after that, but that was certainly not the case for me a few months ago. It kept reappearing regularly afterwards, and I was convinced that something was wrong with the system.
1. Why Does The Error Occur?
Once the blue screen error persist on your computer, it will not go away unless you fix it. The most common reason for the problem is errors in the computer registry. It contains all the instructions that instruct your program applications to run correctly.
2. How To Repair The Registry?
The blue screen problem can be easily fixed by using a registry cleaner, if your errors are caused by errors in the registry. This was exactly what I did to cure my computer. It does not only get rid of the blue screen, but you should also find that your computer performance will improve if you have never maintained your registry before.
To clean your registry, you will need to download a cleaner software and run a free scan to find all the errors. Here are some of the Best Registry Cleaners :Tuneup Utilities,Registry Mechanic,CCleaner.

If unfortunately, your computer problems are coming from the RAM, you will have to replace the faulty RAM stick. You can also test your current RAM stick by changing it with another working one, and see if the blue screen error returns. If the error still persists, it would mean that there is no problem with the RAM stick, and vice versa.

STOP 0x0000008E errors are usually caused by memory hardware failures and more rarely by device driver issues, viruses, or hardware failures other than your RAM.

Won't boot up gets blue screen asking for us to

Usually if you've encounter a blue screen the first cause of this should be the RAM. Check the RAM maybe it is clogged by the dust you need to clean the RAM. If the same things happen you must reset also the CMOS battery and the jamper. The jamper located near the CMOS battery at the south bridge.

In any other circumstances to solve this you need to install a fresh copy of windows. Some causes of blue screen is the corrupted software that need a full copy.

I upgraded my laptop's (hp compact cq40-336 tu) RAM from 1 GB to 3BG. I bought a 2GB RAM w/ Kinsengton model from our local store. TO find out the said RAM is not working properly. How can I fix this...

This model laptop requires DDR RAM. Sometimes different brand of RAM do not work together or not the memory upgrade was not compatible with the laptop.
To check the amount of installed memory, go into the BIOS configuration to view the RAM.
The other way is to open Control Panel and click on System, this will also show the total RAM installed.

Erratic behavior - system halts with blue screen with error codes

sounds like serious memory errors. download and boot to "memtest86" to terst your ram for errors, but it may also be the memory controller.

you can try also to swap slots between the memory sticks and see if it works better with the sticks swapped.
