This is usually caused by the door switch. These are fairly inexpensive and very easy to replace. First unplug your machine. To check you will need to remove the wire ring that holds the front door seal to the front panel. To do this go to the six o’clock position and you will see the spring of the wire clamp, grab this with a pair of needle nose pliers. Grab it right where it connects to the wire part of the clamp and pull it parallel to the front panel. This will stretch the spring so it can be pulled over the flange. Next carefully peal the door seal off of the flange. You do this with a sort of rolling motion towards the opening in the door. Next remove the screws that hold the door switch in place. Make sure you have one hand supporting the switch assembly while removing the screws. Now pull the whole assembly out the opening. Mark wires if you need to and then remove the wires. Now connect your ohmmeter to the 2 wire on the bottom you should have a reading of 1500 ohms no less than 1400ohms. If it is below the 1400 or more than 1700 replace the switch. To reassemble reverse the order of disassembly. Making sure the little arrow on the door seal lines up with the mark on the front panel. The spring can be a little tricky to get back on but grab in same position as removal and use the other hand to push it over and around the seal. Here is a tutorial to walk you thru . If it is within this range the main control board or motor control board at fault. Not inexpensive. You can enter your model # at to view diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.

Kenmore washer wont spin

Transmission parts that would cause that are the clutch and the spin tube. Also an article of clothing wedged between inner and outer tubs could cause it.

Whirlpool top loader washer will not spin

Could be one of several different things depending on the age and model. If its less than 10 years old and is a top load washer its probably a motor coupling (connects the motor to the transmission kinda like a belt) or lid switch. If the water is draining out but the washer is not spinning its probably the motor coupling. If it still has water in it and won't spin, its probably the lid switch. If your washer is a front loader there could be several things going on. Hope that helps.

If the washer will not spin that means one of two things can be wrong. The first thing I would look at is the transmission. The 2nd thing would be the motor.

Good Luck

There is a knocking sound on the left side of the washer when it goes to spin cycle.

Sounds like the tub is hitting the wall of the washer. One thing to check is if the cloths are evenly distributed in the washer. If to many are on one side then it will spin out and bang. Also make sure the washer is level. If it is leaning one way to far it will also spin in that direction. You might want to check the belt as well. If that belt is severely worn and has stretched out then it will spin in a wider motion and bang the wall of the washer. These are the thing to check that would cause the problem described.

PAV33300AWW -top load washer won't agitate or spin,i can manuallly spin the drum and then it will spin,it drains but not spin ,was making a racket prior to taking out the agitator.any help is greatly...

Best thing you can do is to do one of two things, you can remove the agitater and make sure nothing is tangled on the shaft, but if it goes through the spin cycle thats probably not an issue. or you can take off the outside shell of the washer and visually check the belt and the motor.
