The first problem to fix this problem is to upgrade the firmware for this product but none is available. None has been available since the 2008 firmware that was placed on this product. $1500 was too much to pay for this product especially with the problem of freezing.

Similar issueon this end, you must try a few steps before giving up all hope, first is to download the latest firmware to your external drive or USB, let the unit recognize it, then restart the unit after updating and it should be fine after that. If the problem persists, then I believe that you need to convert all of your music files on a PC and do not allow any of them to be compatible with a mac, because the processing system of the cortex seems to freeze when reading these kinds of files for long periods of time....if things are still dicey after you do this then i suggest you reformat your entire drive, if you think its worth getting the mixer back in action....maybe, maybe not....good luck

I am living in Barbados the Caribbean and I also bought a Cortex 600 and experience the same problem of the unit after playing any song for a period of time just freezing.I then converted all my mp3 to 128 and it still did the same thing.I bought it for over $1500.oo and believed that a system for this price should be able to play any mp3 despite the bitrate(Remember I said $1500.00.I was really impress with the system as it allowed you to travel with just a memory stick or external but the freezing really pissed me off.I hope someone can use the same idea to make a better system that can play any mp3 despite the bitrate without the freezing

I had jxd in it songs are not playing i copied songs in jxd in audio file songs r appearing in jxd but not playing i pressed play button "file type error" coming why

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

Hi, I have a cortex DJ Mix 300 but only some of the songs on my ipod are being picked up on the database when I load it up. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether the files are MPEG or other...

There are different digital formats and some are not compatible to transfer file names... It is frustrating isn't it?... run into this all the time. To fix the probllem you would probablly have to buy a music editing software packaage that you could edit the files and put them all in the compatible mode.

Can you please tell me how to stop my Coby player from playing the same song over and over without my manually advancing to the next song? I must have selected a repeat option.

Are you playing files from a playlist, or are you selecting by Artist/Song?

If in a playlist, it should advance to the next song automatically. If you choose a particular song, it will just play that one song over and over. If you choose an Artist, it will play all the songs of that artist over and over.

The player doesnt read i tune files

The other mp3 player can't support itunes file except iPod.so if you want to play itunes music in all MP3 and Digital Media Players, you need a special program to help strip off the protection and convert the itunes m4p, m4b, m4a music to mp3. i always use wondershare music converter. my friend introduced it to me. it can convert the songs from iTunes at very high speed.

My shaker does not play all of the loaded songs.

I had the same problem. The songs that won't play are probably MP4 files and the shaker only plays MP3 files. You need to change the file format of the songs on the shaker to MP3 files. I downloaded "Media Coder" which was free and it converted all the songs on the shaker that wouldn't play to MP3 files and they play now. Google "Media Coder" and download the free program, it is very easy to use. I had the songs converted in about 2 minutes. Make sure the shaker is plugged into computer so that you can choose the files on the shaker to convert. Hope this helps.

80G Ipod Classic skips songs

Try converting the songs into a different format because the format that the song is in might not completely be played on the ipod. Right click on the song and click on convert to mp3. Then try transferring the mp3 format song onto the ipod and it should play right then.
