Question about Toyotomi TAD-T32G Portable Air Conditioner

5 Answers

I have a Toyotomi TAD-32G that doesn't respond to the remote. This even after a new remote, and trying to reset the unit. I never get the second beep. Any other button combinations or methods to get these to talk?

So, if the sensor is bad, is the sensor replaced? Is the sensor independent of the PCB, or must the board be replaced? Do you know where to get replacement parts?

  • tscott1g Aug 27, 2010

Is this sensor connected to the PCB or the Control Board?

  • tscott1g Aug 27, 2010

    Hello?

  • tscott1g Aug 28, 2010

Well, the pcb I have is attached with a 14 pin split ribbon cable.

  • tscott1g Aug 28, 2010

The unit LED's will flash red if the tray is full. Besides, when I removed the covers there was no condensation present. Further, I don't see how this would effect the communication between the remote and the unit.

To program the unit do the following:

Press Power button on AC.
Press mode button to select between Fan, cool and dry,
Press Timer and use arrows to adjust.
Select Fan speed and the AC will start.

Operations are same on remote and on AC panel. If that does not work, then there is a problem, there is no other way to use the remote. Ensure that there is no timer already programmed, and try disconnecting power to reset main AC unit.

If the timer board is not responding, even if you do the above, then either electronic control or remote sensor on the AC may be faulty (electronic board more likely), did you try reporting the problem to Toyotomy? They should be able to send a technician (if under warranty) or to provide the part (IR board ot control board). The contact number is listed on the owners manual.

Scott,
It seems to me that the chip for the remote operation is bad. That is why even with a new remote there is no action. That IC needs to be replaced with an exactly the same one.

Hi!!

Did you drained the unit lately??

The unit will not work unless you drain the pan. Once you do that, press the power button twice to reset the unit.

Good Luck!! Don't forget to rate this post!!

If the pan is full or if the board gets the signal that is full, the unit will not respond to any control signal, regardless if the signal comes from the remote or the pad.

Give me a few to check something else.

  • Rene J Solis Aug 28, 2010

So, the unit is working fine, the only problem is that the remote control can not be programmed. Is this correct??

If so, how does the whole thing started?

    Thanks

  • tscott1g Aug 28, 2010

The unit is started by pushing the switch on the front of the unit. They call it the "emergency start/stop switch. The unit then starts in Auto mode. So, yes, it works but I have no control over any of the settings. I can't switch modes, control temperature settings, or fan speeds. The unit does not respond to the remote. When trying to re-set the remote, I push and hold in the emergency stop/start switch. After about 6 seconds there is a beep. I then press the power button on the remote while continuing to press the start/stop switch on the unit. There is supposed to be a second beep to indicate the operation has been completed successfully. The second beep never occurs.

    Hi!!

There are two types of ac units of your model #, A and B. The procedure to reprogram the Remote control is slightly different, see Page 4, either way, pay attention to the text, your description and the manual's description of the procedure are different YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.

    Type B

    Type A

  • tscott1g Aug 29, 2010

I know there are two types. Either method gives the same results.

Sorry for the delay. I would like to eloberate the problem a bit for you. There are three conditions due to which your unit is not responding to the new remote which you purchased.
1. The batteries which you inserted in your remote are not properly inserted. Sol. If you have any led on your remote just check whether it glows when you press a button. on the top center of the remote just check in the dark that it has a glow when you press the button. If not then recheck the batteries.
2. Changes in the input voltage to the unit. The unit is specifically built to work on a particular voltage Single Phase 115V, 60Hz. Just check out whether the input is correct or not
3. The remote sensor on your unit has gone bad. As you asked to the previous expert whether the sensor is on the control board or it can be changed without changing the control board. In case the sensor is bad you will require to change the complete pcb because it is fixed on the pcb. That pcb is connected to the control board via 4 wire connector.

Hi, if after replacing the remote control with a new one and the unit still does not respond to the remote, then the receiver sensor in the a/c is faulty. No other button combination or method will make the sensor work except it is replaced........

The sensor can be changed alone with removing the board and you can get it at any electronic parts store around you...

My Toyotomi TAD-30F 'tank full' light keeps coming on despite my emptying the tank daily.

Check and see if the light is activated by a float switch. If it is it may be sticking. Your owners manual may have a clue.

The remote just says set 2 and does nothing

Does the TV screen say Set 2 or the display area on the DVD recorder? The original remote for the DMR-ES35VS doesn't have a screen. (If you are using a universal remote, I'm not sure how to reset the unit.)

The Set 2 indicates that the unit was set to listen to a remote on the second wavelength available on these remotes. Your remote needs to be set to the same wavelength. Press and hold Enter and then press and hold 2 (for about 2 seconds) on the remote to set it to this option. Press Return to move back through the menu or exit the screen. (Panasonic provided this feature for those with several devices so that each remote wouldn't control a nearby device at that frequency.) To get the recorder to respond to the remote, they must be set to the same range. To check, press the Functions button. Under Other Functions > Setup > Remote Control Code, you can adjust the wavelength that the receiver is looking for. (Use the up/down arrows to select a sub-menu and the Enter key to enter the sub-menu. Use the left/right arrows to select options in the secondary menu.) If the unit doesn't respond, try a different wavelength. (Press and hold Enter and then press 1 or 3. There are only three possible options for the remote/receiver.)

For a screen capture of this, see page 19 of the manual; it is available from Panasonic here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRES35V.pdf . An original remote is available from Remotes.com: http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=DMR-ES35VS&uuid=13262363222670 . It probably comes pre-programmed for Remote Code 1.

I hope this helps.

My panasonic dvd recorder / remote control is not working On pressing button on remote I get dvd2 on recorder screen but no other response. I have tried reset without effect

Try reprogramming the remote itself; i.e. point remote at unit (while on), press and hold the [2] and [ENTER/OK] buttons together for 5 - 10 seconds, then release. The remote's command should now match that of the unit (DVD 2) (the unit should now recognise the remote). Failing that, remove batteries from remote, replace with new ones (just in case) and repeat the above suggestion. You should not need to reset the main unit.

Whenever the batteries are replaced in Panasonic remotes, in some cases, a remote command reprogram is often required to ensure that the remote commands the unit fully and correctly. You may find this procedure outlined in your instruction manual. Hope this helps a tad.

It does no obey to any commands other than lighting up with the letters (RC1)

RC 1 or DVD 1 is the unit's default remote command mode. You can try the following with the remote:

While the unit is on, pick up the remote, then press and hold [ ENTER/OK ] and the number [ 1 ] button together for 5 - 10 seconds, then release. Repeat the procedure if it makes no difference and the unit still ignores the remote. If it doesn't work, try new batteries, then repeat the above.

{ You can reset the unit if necessary (press and hold [ CH UP ] and [ CH DOWN ] button together for 5 - 10 seconds on the front panel (not the remote), until 'SETUP' appears in the display). }

Hopefully this should help a bit. You should not need to continuously reset either the main unit or the remote.
