SOURCE: Ceiling fan does not reverse with remote

Just reporting that I called Hampton Bay about the remote not working to reverse the fan. I was told that I needed to have the fan running on low and then press reverse on the remote control. If that doesn't work, customer service told me to press reverse while running the fan on medium. (Some fans are set to reverse on low and others on medium.) Nowhere in the manual is this addressed. I had been pressing reverse with the fan turned off, which seemed to me a logical thing to do. Live and learn.

SOURCE: Hampton Bay 60" Brookedale fan remote not working

The Remote (TRANSMITTER) control AND the RECEIVER must both be set to the same CODE in order for the REMOTE to operate the fan.
!!WARNING!! YOU ARE ABOUT TO ENTER HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICITY ZONE!!
The RECEIVER is located in the CANOPY, the part of the fan assembly next to the ceiling which is also called the Hanger Bracket.
At the bottom of the Canopy you will see what looks like a large flat washer. Rotate the washer counter-clock wise to release it.
Then rotate the Canopy counter-clock wise to release and lower it. You will see the RECEIVER, which will have a short antenna at one end, tucked in among the electrical wire and bracket. Simply pull the RECEIVER out and you will see the CODE switches. Remember to set both devices to the same CODE.
Good luck. :)

I have a hamton bay remote ceiling fan it the fan quit working and can't find the remote control can I hook it up straight and do away with the remote control system

You're playing with fire there, mate. Find the remote or buy another. To connect it directly to the mains requires a skilled electrician. I've done it myself and found it really hard. So, I went to the store and purchased a new remote module for the type of fan and then did it myself. Now it works as new. I suggest you do the same if you do not wish to electrocute yourself by wiring it directly to the mains.

Ceiling fan remote

If the fan came with a remote, you probably need a new receiver. Shouldn't by a store brand fan. Low-end fan = low-end parts

The light on the remote is just a battery indicator light. I would try changing the dip switches in the receiver & transmitter first. If that doesn't work, you probably need a new receiver. Good luck since this is a cheap store brand.

The problem is not your remote on the fan. It is the light kit. We have the same problem and our electrician diagnosed it as the light kit. This problem started just out of warranty, of course, and we are now purchasing a new light kit to fix the problem.

The house we bought had a Hampton Bay St. Regis ceiling fan light. We had to buy a remote and it works but the top tier light stays on and will not go off as long as the switch is on. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like the remote control receiver has gone, replace the receiver. Purchase them seperatley very common for these to play up, even new ones made in China especially arlec brand !

Easy to get a new one though, find them at home depot or hardware and lighting stores. the receivers simply go at the top of the fan where they meet the ceiling. Easy to wire up too. But should be done by an electrician, athough it's not rocket science.

I would recommend contacting one of your local electrical lighting stores. There are ways to reset the remote and getting it talking with the fan again. There are so many different models out there, and they all work a little different when it comes to programming them. If you have a a good lighting store like Kendall Electric or something like that they should be able to help you out. It is possible that the receiver in the fan has gone bad also. Any good electrician should be able to swap out the receiver for you and get you going again. Good Luck!

Fan with remote won't work with wall switch. I

I just recently purchased a hunter ceiling fan w/light and remote. Had it installed and wall switch would not work, only remote. I contacted Hunter company directly about this problem and I was told that they redesigned their fans with remotes so that only the remote works for turning off power to fan. The person who made that made that BRILLIANT change should be fired. So to those of you who own a newer hunter an product with a remote ne your wall switch will not work tat s te reason why.

Electricians can be so much fun can't they ? LOL I would ask the electrician to bypass the remote to check the fan operation first. You need to know if your problem is the remote or the fan itself.. A simple wiring change in the junction box can be done to determine which issue to focus on.. Hope this helps..
