How do i fix this? When i plug my head phones in the sound goes away.

that's the way it works if you plug in the headphones the external speakers go off. if you are not getting sound to the headphones then try another pair of headphones to see if they will work.

My speakers are pluged in but there not working.. my computers saying that threres no device pluged in.

Troubleshoot the issue by plugging in a different set of speakers or head phones into your computer.

If the new pair of speakers/headphones works, then your other speakers are broken.
If the new pair of speakers/headphones do not work, then the problem is with your computer audio, and I would recommend updating the drivers.

Polk computer speakers work in laptop but not on desktop computer

desktops now a days have more than one plug for the speakers. try playing some music and play which hole works.

if there is a 5.1 or surround on the desktop then most likely the light green jack isnt stereo out but rather unamplified signal. thus when you plug head phones into it the internal amp drives the headphones, but wants the computer to drive the speakers.

try plugging it into the black one... or play pick a hole till it works.

When you plug your headphones in there is a dis connect the head phone jack should be contacting to break the circuit to the internal speakers. Try a different head phone set. If this doesn't work, the female jack is (in the computer) is probably malfuncitoning. This will require a decent repair man...
