Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjULf1lLW5U&feature=channel Its easier to post a link than to try to go into detail. If the link does not post than go to youtube and do a search for washing machine bearing replacement. You can match up the bearings once you get it apart. I know Frigidare wants to sell the complete drum and does not list the bearings and seal.
Good luck
Good luck.

that would be the bearing and housing gone on the drum, if you can lift the drum with your fingers at the bottom of the drum in the door hatch even by putting lifting inside then the bearing has gone. the plastic is the drum.housing usually were the bearing housing is. if there is a lot of movement then the bearing has gone. usually the front bearing but you will need to remove the drum and separated the drum to remove the drum then the bearing, rust on clothing is the bearing as its the only part in the drum that is metal.

Water leaking from bearing at back of drum

you better get at this soon, the lip-seal is gone from the outer tub and now water has penetrated the bearings behind this lip-seal,the longer you wait the harder it will be to remove these bearings and if its a plastic outer tub you can destroy this tub when removing the old bearings, the inner tub needs to be removed, the rear access needs to be open the motor pulley removed, the c-clip that secures the outer bearing needs removing then the inner tub can come out the front to access these bearings for replacement

During spin cylces very load noises----bearings gone less than three old got estimate of 4-500 to fix does that sound right?

Yes, that is a good price for a main bearing repair. I wouldn't recommend it. I would buy either a whirlpool top load washer with and agitator ( we are doing to many repairs on the wp washers without agitators), or I would buy the super capacity front load duet. You will save more money in the long run with the front loader. Both of these have been the best washers built in the last 30 years. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Loud jet noise in spin cycle on Kenmore stackable top load washer

it is the drum bearing seal and it has gone out and ruined the bearings, you would need a lip seal kit and appropriate bearings for that particular unit,i do a lot of maytag front loads and it can take anywhere from 2 hours up to 8 hours depending how the old bearings come out and the damage to the bearing and seal surfaces, the sooner you get to it the less chance of severe damage it will cause, because water will kep on destroying bearings till they lock up and destroy the drive pulley

Makes horrible noise during spin cycle only

The bearings have most likely gone bad. This is a very common problem with the front load washer when powder soap is used.

Loud - maybe ball bearings gone

How old is the machine?
There are glides that the drum turns on that may be bad rather than a bearing!
How old is the machine? if it's 9 years old or more.Do not put good money into bad!
A new machine will save you a lot of money on energy. Enough to pay for it self in only a few years!
