New ink cartridge for Kodak Easy Share 5300 will not work

Printer will not accept the new ink cartridge. It still reads as though the old cartridge is still in Jan

I replaced both black and color ink cartridges and I could not get the calibration sheet to print. All the printer did was shoot out 2 blank pages and the 3rd page got stuck. I called support and I was told how to print the calibration sheet which I already tried and of course it did the same thing shooting out blank pages. I was then told very kindly that I would need to do an upgrade through the computer program. I bought the printer because it was advertised as a printer that you do not need to use with a computer.
I have a computer but I do not have Windows XP nor do I have the internet.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I purchased the printer with the camera for $149 and thought I was getting a great deal. The camera is great and the photos that I was able to print are really great. I have now returned to using my Lexmark printer which I does work with my computer and guess I just need to stick with the more expensive ink printer. It at least is still working. Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

I have ordered new black & white cartridges & color cartridges; however, the color cartridges will print in full color. Has a light shade of color in the background, but no where like it should print. They were an off brand cartridge, but since then I have ordered the Kodak color cartridges, and they do the very same thing. The black & white continue to work though.

Please respond. Thank You, Emmet Gadberry

Yeah, Kodak should state that a PC with Windows XP or Mac with OSX is required for maintenance and upgrading and solving problems that were fixed after the release.

The first suggestion I have for you is find a friend, family member, or co-worker who has windows XP and the internet that can download the software and update the firmware on your printer. The printer may have even wrote a empty value on the new intank making it now worthless, requiring a new ink tank

Sadly there was a line of the 5300 printers that were released with a firmware bug that when the ink tank went empty and the user replaces the ink tank the printer still says the tank is empty.

A last ditch effort could be to remove the ink tanks and the printhead. Unplug the printer. wait like 5 mins. Then plug the printer back it. it will ask for a printhead. install the printhead. close the door. it will then ask for ink tanks. open the door and install the ink tanks and see if it will take them.

I feel bad for people in your situation who were led to believe the product was flawless out of the box and no PC was or will ever be needed.

SOURCE: 5300 printer

To calibrate the printer right click on the printer icon and open the status monitor once you open it there is 3 symbols on the top right of the box one looks like a hammer and wrench in an x configuration, next to that is an i for i for about and a ? for help. Click on the x which is Maintenance it will bring up a new box which has 2 options calibrate and printhead cleaning when you chose calibrate it will print a calibration sheet which you then need to put into the scanner portion and press the start button, these instructions will also come up on the screen when you go through the process.

Print head is clogged. An ink jet printer needs to be used at least once a month or you risk this happening. Keep trying to clean print head.

My one year old Kodak Easy share 5300 printer only print out plank paper there is no ink showing even i have new cartridges,

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Normal 0 Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

New ink cartridge for Kodak Easy Share 5300 will not work

The version of firmware you originally had on the printer when you changed the ink cartridge was bad. There is a known issue that when you put in a new ink cartridge when the printer is in the error state "COLOR INK EMPTY. REPLACE COLOR INK CARTRIDGE" the unit writes that value to the new ink cartridge so you will continue to have that error.

So to fix your problem Open the access door and Remove the ink cartridges. Then download and install the new Firmware. Heres the link.

Kodak AiO 5300 Firmware

Then sadly you have to go get another new ink tank and install it.

If you can get through to kodak you should request reimbursement of some sort like a free set of ink tanks.

I hope this helps
