No back-light,No picture, but has sounds. How can I fix it?

Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Screen black

Here's the test to determine which board is faulty. With the TV on, as usual, shine a flashlight on the screen to see if there is a faint picture. If there is, then the ballast board for the backlights is bad. If there is no visible picture, then the T-Con board is bad. Curtis LCD2425A will not turn on

Good day!!!!

TV won't power ON..
This is the common problem..
Power supply board or main board..

Please try this procedure to determine the faulty parts.

  1. Open the back cover.
  2. Check the input of the power supply board it should have 220vac or 110vac depends on your voltage comes from the outlet.
  3. If you don't have voltage input of PSU..Please or try to replace the power cord.
  4. If you have voltage input on PSU..Please check the output voltage of it..It should have 5vdc for the main board,12 or sometime 16vdc for the audio and 24vdc for the inverter board(back-light).
  5. If you encounter voltage drop on the output..Please check the power supply board if have leak/bulged on the top capacitors..Please replace it with the same type, ratings and value.
  6. If the 3 voltages mention above are normal..Your main board is defective you need to replace it because main board is not for D.I.Y repair due to the surface mount type parts on it..

I hope this solution will be helpful..
Thanks for using fixya...

Good day!

This are the steps to find and fix that problem.

  1. Open the cover of your TV.
  2. Disconnect the input supply of system board or main board that comes from the power supply unit.
  3. Power ON the TV to check the voltage reading of disconnected connector to the input of system board by using voltmeter.
  4. Check the 5vdc and 12vdc by using voltmeter. If you got voltage reading of 5vdc and 12vdc,try to connect the input connector of the system board and check the voltage again. If no voltage when you connect it.There's a shorted parts on your system board.Replace the whole system board because its very difficult and expensive to repair it.
  5. When the input voltage of system board doesn't have 5vdc and 12vdc even disconnected on the board. The problem is on power supply.
Check the following:
  • Fuse-Check the fuse if busted.
  • Transistor and diode-Check the transistor and diode if shorted.
  • Resistor-Check the resistor if open/change value.
  • Capacitor-Check the capacitor if leak/bulge on top.
If you found the defective parts that mention above.Replace it with the same type and ratings.
NOTE:If the following parts are OK and the problem is still there. The power supply have major problem and its not for D.I.Y..

Thank you and good luck

My 27" truflat RCA tv, which is 4 yrs old, went blank

Hi,you will need a soldering iron and a voltage needle so you can test the Ic components on the main board. you will need to test the transistors as well. once you find the bad parts, you will have to order them and remove the bad parts and replace them with the ordered parts by using the iron and solder. this issue will be located on the input side of the main board. you should notice it by the discolorations on the board.
