Is your needle in right, flat side facing away from you? There may be some thread stuck in the machine, or bobbin area, use a brush to clean it all, then rethread. Call their customer service listed in your manual

I have a Baby Lock Audrey. The bobbin thread is "nesting". I have tried rewinding the bobbin and rethreading the needle and bobbin thread but that hasn't helped.

Check that it is actually the bobbin thread that is nesting. Generally, bobbin thread issues appear on the top of the fabric and upper thread issues appear on the underside of the fabric.

If it is in fact the bobbin thread, the bobbin thread tension may be off or malfunctioning.

If it is the upper thread nesting under the fabric:
1. Remove the thread
2. Install a brand new needle
3. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot. This releases the thread tension so the thread will seat properly.
4. Rethread from the beginning and check the thread path is correct.
5. Set the upper tension at the midway point.
6. Check that the bobbin thread is loaded properly
7. Retest the machine.

If it continues to create thread nests under the fabric, tighten the upper tension.

The needle with top thread couldn't draw the bottom thread from the bobbin to ready the machine for sewing

Are you saying that the upper thread is not pulling the bobbin thread up to the top?

Install a brand new needle.

Remove the thread. RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning--allows the thread to seat completely in the upper tension disk.

Check that the bobbin thread is inserted in the bobbin case facing the correct direction and that the bobbin case is threaded correctly through the bobbin case tension. Be sure to leave at least a 6" tail of thread on both the upper and lower threads.

Retest.

If it is still not picking up the bobbin thread, the bobbin case may be defective/malfunctioning or your machine probably needs professional service.

I have been sewing all day with no problems. Suddenly the needle is not picking up the bobbin thread. Why? Solution? Thanks!

the needle might be bent-roll needle on flat surface & see if it rolls correctly
if the needle is make a popping sound when it goes thur fabric the needle is blunt
check the bobbin area to see if there is lint or loose thread
check to see if the bobbin has become warped
the bobbin may not be inserted correctly in the bobbin case
check to make sure the bobbin case is inserted correctly into the machine
rethread the sewing machine in case the thread is caught somewhere
make sure there is a thread tail of 3-4 inches on both upper thead & lower thread

I have an older machine - Riccar 3600 -- and the spool thread keeps breaking while sewing. What can I do?

Hello,
Here are some things to try.

If it's Your upper thread breaking:

* Rethread your machine
An incorrectly threaded machine can cause thread to break.

* Decrease the tension on your machine
The tension may be too tight for your thread.

* Reposition the spool of thread on the spindle
You know that little nick in the edge of a spool that’s used to hold the loose end of the thread? Your thread may be catching on this nick as you sew. Place your spool so that this nick rests against the bottom of the spindle.

* Reinsert your needle
Make sure it goes all the way into the holder and that it’s positioned correctly, usually with the flat side away from the bobbin, but consult your machine’s manual to be sure.

* Change your needle
Your needle may be bent or dull. The eye of your needle may have a nick in it that’s cutting the thread as you sew. Or your needle may be too small for the thread you’re using, in which case, change to a larger needle. And make sure your needle is appropriate for the weight and type of your fabric.

* Change your thread
Your thread may be weak. Or your thread may be fuzzy and irregular, causing it to catch in the eye of your needle as you sew. Cheap thread tends to be weak and fuzzy, so make sure to
use a quality, brand name thread. And if you’ve been sewing with an older cotton thread, which can dry out and become brittle with age, try a newer thread.

* Check your presser foot for damage to the needle hole
A burr in your presser foot’s needle hole may be cutting your thread. Gently smooth any rough spot you find with an emery cloth.

* There may be a burr in one of your thread guides, in which case, you may need to have your
machine professionally serviced to have the part replaced.

If it's Your lower thread breaking:

* Reinsert your bobbin
Your bobbin may not be seated properly in its case.

* Rethread your bobbin
Your bobbin may be threaded incorrectly or the thread may be tangled.

* Remove some of the thread from your bobbin
If your bobbin is very full (if it’s hard to insert into the case, it’s too full), this may be keeping your bobbin from turning smoothly.

* Rewind your bobbin thread
If your bobbin thread is wound unevenly, this may be keeping your bobbin from turning
smoothly.

* Try a new bobbin
There could be a nick along the edge of your bobbin spool that’s catching your thread as you sew.

* Clean the lint from your bobbin case
Lint in your bobbin case could be keeping your bobbin from working properly.

* Check the needle hole in your throat plate for rough spots
A burr in the needle hole of your throat plate, usually caused by the needle hitting the throat plate, could be cutting your thread. Gently smooth any rough spot you find with an emery cloth.

I hope one of these solutions work for you.

My brother PE-400 sewing quit sewing

The "race" on your machine needs adjusting. Remove the bobbin cover, bobbin, & case. What you have left is the race, it moves when you turn the large wheel on the top right of machine. The needle also moves up and down. There is a hook on the race that catches the needle thread. Try moving the race to the line up with the needle. It may take a couple of trys but it should do the trick. Also clean any threads that may be caught on or arround the race. Hope this helps!

Upper Thread Error

I just posted this under another Brother machine...mine is a se 350 but, might be the same problem!! Hi....I also kept getting the check and rethread upper thread message, I'd sew about 15 stitches and it'd stop. Here's what I did. On the left of the machine, in the back there is a screw....loosen that screw, take cover off, then lift straigt up and out on the cover that has the 3 on it in your threading seqence. Next, I started inspecting and cleaning the thread route from top to bottom. Lo and behold....I get to the place where you come down the front of the machine and turn to go back up and I spot a little slice/cut in the plastic piece so, when I was threading the machine I guess I was pulling it to far to the left causing it to wear a little slice/cut in that piece....so, I finished cutting it off with a utility knife, used an emery board to smooth it down, put the covers back on and it works GREAT!!!! Who would've ever thought that it'd be so easy and save me a bunch of money!!! I sure hope this helps someone.
