Question about Mitsubishi VS-5043 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

57" DLP Mitsubishi

Tv turns itself off by saying " Check airflow to see if blocked" It has at least 10" on each side and still does it if i move it to open room. The orange light comes on after it turns itself off which means room is to warm (according to manual) that is false also. Any suggestions. i tried cleanig the fan in back and using a house fan to keep air circulating,...no luck...please help

It is shutting off saying check air flow when I unplug it for awhile it will work for a while Can it be a bad bulb? getting tired of a new tv broken after 2 years any suggestions? rjhassler@comcast.net

I have the exact same problem, it says to check the air flow but there is nothing blocking it. Sometimes it can go without doing this for a couple of days to a month and then it starts up with it again

It is possible that either the heat sensor or the protection circuitry has a problem. The protection circuits will always err on the side of caution. If the fan is good, I'd be looking for the sensor. Can you update this with the model number please? I can check for more details once I have that info.
Thanks,
Dan

I have white spots and black spots on right side of Mitsubishi WD-C657. I've done research online, and have heard its the dlp chip. Is that true, and if so, is it something that I can replace myself,...

This tv is it the DLP projection light engine block main board itself is the problems, not easily to go into the tv itself and replacing the IC chip itself.Must take out many mechanical parts to get u the Light engine block it self.U can replaced IC but somethime the IC chip it replaced, will not solved the problems, because the tv problems now the it is spreading and going on beyond the IC chip itself. If want to keep this tv very exspensive repair,i would reconmend hire a bound qualify tv tech replaced the whole Light projection block itself, but first call Mitsubishi for some kind of deal, they might help with the repair amount cost.

I have a 57" mitsubishi

You probably have a bad lamp again I hate to say. These lamp are so critical when being moved. If after you atttempt to power on TV then red light shows, press menu+input on the front panel and hold for 5 seconds. Front timer LED will blink a 2 digit error code five times then stop. Code 34 and 66 are lamp errors, and if you read code 66 the lamp is broken. Good luck

Hello!! It might be either that the tv is overheating because of the lack of air, or it may also be your ballast.
First of all I recommend you clean the fans, so the air flow won't be blocked, don't use something that mioght damage some of the boards that are inside, you can buy one of those air cans to clean computers, if that does not work, I recommend you listen closely and notice if there's a clicking sound, if so it might be the ballast.
