I lost my instruction book in moving.when I tried to make a loaf of breab it did not rise and was very heavy. thanks daisy

    When I bought the machine at Wal-mart they sell it without the instruction book. I would like to find one, so I can start using the machine.

Heavy sourdough

NO, it is not like English flour which is self-raising.
Yeast makes it rise. you could also add an egg with the liquid. Our flour needs raising agents.
BUt a sourdough loaf is a bit heavier.
Plus my breadmaker entails a sourdough starter, (with the recipe) That's if you are using a breadmaker.
Are you baking it in the oven?

As long as you follow recipes for the loaf capacity of your machine any bread machine recipe book will do. If you can't find one visit breadmachineshelp.com and let him know the loaf size for your machine. 1 pound, 1.5 pound, 2 pound etc. If you don't know the loaf size of your machine go with 1.0 pound for now.

New machine yesterday. Made a loaf-didnot rise. New yeast was used. Decided to get more yeast today. Made the recipe for Herbed French Bread- the recipe is in the book that came from the machine....it did...

please tell me what kind of flour you are using....in other words what does it say on the bag....does it say "all-purpose flour" or "bleached bread flour" etc..etc....let's start there.

Loafs dot look right

Black and Decker bread machines need a little more water in the dough, about two tablespoons for a two lb loaf. If the loaf does not rise enough, cut back on the salt about 1/4 teaspoon at a time, no less than one teaspoon for 2 lbs or the bread will be all full of large bubbles.

Bread does not rise

  • Make sure it is good quality Strong White Flour (not plain flour)
  • The amount of water you use is very important. Use scales for accurate results - 1ML = 1G for water
  • Make sure the yeast is as per instructions regards type/quantity/quality.
  • Double check that you are running the correct program.
  • Always put the yeast in first, as you dont want the water in contact with water
Having failed that I would return the machine

Bread is ****.

Try to buy bread mixes that are in proportion to your machine. I had a machine that mads 2-1/2 pound loaves. I could only find mixes for 3/4 pound loaves. I had to buy multiple mixes, put them together and divide them by weight. I gave the machine away.

this machi will make 1, 1 1/2, and 2 pound loaves and will handle up to 4 2/3 cups of flour.

Bread pan pops up

I found the clips on the loaf tin were pointing slightly downwards on each side when I first purchased the Breadman.

I bent the clips on the loaf tin up to more of a 90 degree angle.
