Question about Hitachi HTS541612J9SA00 120 GB SATA Hard Drive

1 Answer

HI. I want to use my Hitachi 120 GB drive HTS-541612J9SA00 as a removable drive in my omega removable drive interface. The computer "sees" the device and recognizes it, it shows up as a "basic" drive, but I cannot read anything from it.

The drive is from a broken FUJITSU notebook, where the motherboard cracked from "daily use" I was hoping to get my data off of it by putting it into the Portable drive interface. IE is it formatted? I think it is if there are 2 partitions on it, and it has all my other stuff. But in the disc management utility is showed up as "RAW" formatting. What can you suggest?

Your fujitsu hard drive might have a corrupted mbr. You might want to try using Data recovery wizard it cost around $70 . Read up on http://www.ptdd.com/partition-table-doct...

You can choose any brand of replacement disk (Western Digital, Hitachi, Seagate, or Toshiba), provided it conforms to these specifications :
- form factor : 2''5
- interface : SATA
- size : at least 120 Gb, if your disc was nearly full, or less, depending on your storage needs.
Any computer shop can provide you with that kind of spare part.
They can also install the OS on the disk, with the drivers for your specific HP model.

Whenever i open my laptop it says failure predicated on hard drive hitachi 541612j9sa00(s1).what should i do now?

You should take the computer to a computer repair shop and they might be able to backup any important data from it if you have not backed up. If you have backed up then you may want to purchase a new hard drive, again your local computer repair shop can help you with this and replace your old drive and reinstall your operating system and then your backup data(if applicable).
Good Luck.

Can you try connecting it to a different computer?
If it still does not work, then you have a "hardware" problem.
Remove the disk-drive from the enclosure, and temporarily attach it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if bypassing the USB-to-disk-drive interface will bypass the problem.

I want a converter for Hitachi HTS541612J9SA00 120 GB SATA Hard Drive to usb do you know wich one I need..?

You need a 2.5" inch SATA to USB external harddrive enclosure.

since its a laptop hard drive you need a small case.
for example this one http://www.amazon.com/2-5-SATA-HDD-Enclosure-Black/dp/B0018TCB0O

Hard drive will not boot up and the computer doesn't recoginize it. all I have is the blue light on.

Try connecting it to a different computer, to see if it gets recognized.

Is it still under warranty? If so, exercise the warranty.

Otherwise, disassemble the case, remove the "internal" hard-drive, and connect that drive as a "slave" drive in a desktop computer, to see if the USB-to-disk-drive interface inside the case is the problem, while the data on the disk-drive could be OK.

Cannot see WD 120 GB in my Computer

Sounds like the USB interface is working, but the physical drive is not. Remove the drive from it's external case, and try a different hard drive. If that works, your drive is the problem. If it still doesn't work, the USB to IDE interface is the issue.

Try mounting the original IDE drive internally, and see if you can read it there. If not, you'll need to send it to a data recovery center.
