Question about HP Pavilion Dv6910us Notebook
If you are suffering from a no display issue it is important to discover if it is a problem is due to a loose cable, LCD/inverter issue or a faulty GPU/system board. The fastest way to diagnose such an issue is to connect an external display to your video out port (preferably a VGA port although some newer laptops use HDMI or DisplayPort instead) and turn on the laptop. If an image is displayed on your external display then you have ruled out the GPU being faulty, although the system board still may be faulty.
Next check your laptop LCD, is there an incredibly dim image being displayed? If so then a loose LCD cable could cause the problem, a very basic way to test this would be to apply pressure to various parts of the laptop case and screen bezel, also move the screen and see if a backlight ever powers on. If you are comfortable opening your laptop to check connections then do so. A faulty cable is also a possibility. Sometimes it is a software issue, try turning your display brightness up to max, does the backlight illuminate when in BIOS? If so it is a software problem. Finally it could be a failed LCD inverter, this is a bit of hardware usually separate from the LCD although is sometimes built onto it. These are generally easy and reasonably cheap to replace.
If there is no image on the display at all then follow the above instructions to check your LCD cables and connections. If you have an image at POST but when booting to OS the image disappears then it is a software fault with your OS. Consider a format and fresh install if there is no important data to recover.
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";color:black;mso-fareast-language: EN-GB">Hope this helps,
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";color:black;mso-fareast-language: EN-GB">www.PuterCare.com
