Your power cord may have a loose wire, take it back to where you bought it and ask for service. If, it is Walmart or Target ask who does is the authorized service center

Power is in the machine but nothing moves

If you cannot hear the motor running when you press on the foot control, most likely it is something with the foot control unit. (Check to make sure it is plugged in securely.)

No motor sound with walking foot on Bernina 1031?

Keep in mind that that is not a walking foot... it's actually an even feed foot.

Approach your issue logically. Take the EF foot off and put your normal foot one. Does the sound return to normal?

If it does... keep in mind that your machine is exerting more effort to make the EF foot work. That can make a motor sound differently.

Singer motor hums

You don't say whether your machine is newer or an antique. The model number would really help your helpers help you.

Let's work on your vocabulary a bit: A presser foot, is what holds the material down so the feed dogs and move it through the machine. The foot pedal is pressed to make the machine go. ;)

However this sounds like a machine that needs service... by your explanation of how you change the speed to fast and run it fast... it sounds like one of the modern electronic machines. Since modern machines don't have oiling and greasing guidelines I suspect your machine I well overdue for servicing. Find your local sewing machine tech and take it in. Ask for a "Clean, Oil and adjust timing" and be sure to mention the motor issue. While he's there ask him to check the belts and replace if necessary.

Good luck.

Motor runs but will not serge

Sounds like a broken belt. Take it in for repair (don't do it yourself... it's easy to mess up the timing.) have it cleaned, oiled and adjusted while there.

Hello When the main power switch is turned on,

Do you have a stitch pattern selected and a length chosen? Otherwise it does not know what you want to do. Sometimes companies neglect to tell you that little fact. Also, how about your bobbin winding shaft, is it pushed all the way to the left? Other than that I am baffled. Good luck.

I purchased singer 591 from a commercial manufacturing comp. About 3 years ago for my fiance to use. She doesn't need it anymore so I'll sell it. Thing is I can't turn this machine on to show potential...

A 591 is a flat bed industial machine, that came out with a clutch motor. Unless it has been changed to a servo motor. A clutch motor when turned on will will spool up to speed and you will hear it run. A servo motor makes no sound until you move the foot leaver.
If you hit the switch and nothing happens even when you move the foot feed, check your electical connections.

The carbons in the ceramic tube normally break away, you should not have any problem if you have a new foot control,

When the foot control is pressed the motor runs but the needle does not respond.

If you can hear or see the motor running when you press on the control first make sure that the stop motion for the bobbin winding is tight, if thgat is okay then it may be that the belt is loose or off.

ok,,when you press the foot peddle you will hear a continuous noise like a motor running that means its not the foot peddle, if not peddle is dying or motor carbon brushes are worn, this is a simple fix, we just need to narrow it down
