I have Thinkpad T60 and docking station 2504. Even though the USB ports on the docking station are active, the DVI port is not, ie it does npot send any signal to my external NEC monitor. Any idea what might e wrong?

  • Anonymous Aug 27, 2010

    Hi,

selecting the external monitor does not change anything as it continues remaining black.

It displays the information "No signal to DVI port". My T60 notebook has an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics. Maybe it's a matter if some driver problem?

Hi.

Ensure that

Ensure that on Thinkpad you have selected between external monitor and buit in display. I think the button combination is fn+F7 check also the rest of function buttons.

I have Thinkpad T60 and - 11d1378.jpg

Important NOTE: Ensure that video and keyboard drivers are installed, working and up to date. If video or keyboard drivers are not working you will not be able to use the external video port.

If all the above does not work, you can test the docking bay port using a multimeter set on Ohms on the contact in the two video socket portss in the docking bay. Id the connection is good there must be continuity (zero or low Ohms) in the correspondent pins between computer side and monitor side DVI socket.

Hi. A way to find out if problem is computer or docking bay is using a spare monitor to test, if the Thinkpad does not switch to external monitor using the fn key, then problem is likely drivers, in that case ensure that you have installed all drivers from Amilo website.

IBM ThinkPad T40, when connected to docking station the laptop will randomly stop working with USB connected items like mouse, keyboard, printer all connected to USB ports on docking station.

Try a power adapter with more amperage. When you connect a dock, the 3 amp adapter that comes with IBM laptops will not have enough power for lots of add-ons. You'll need the 4 amp adapter.

Machine reboots when it is hot docked

This sounds like a common feature of the T60, when docked it requires a reboot also try to reboot 2-3 time a day to help cooldown. IBM is a quality machine, even go as far as buying cooling extention for the T60.

Usb ports on the ibm docking station not active

Dear rajeshraja42,
Try to run the recovery CD from IBM Docking station, and reconfigure your system by connecting your docking station while you run them.
Or try this:
Connect your docking station to your Laptop then turn the Computer On!
Start>My Computer--- Then right click--- Choose 'Properties'>On the dialog box, ----choose the 'Hardware' Tab> Choose the Device Manager box by click them>Now You are in the DEVICE Manager Box>>>
Run the Scan For Hardware Changes... Then if you find that your docking station appear with Yellow Question Mark Then, right click on it and choose 'Uninstall' from context menu and answer YES! then Run the SCAN for hardware changes for ONE last time, Your System should find your Docking station as part of your system now!

GoodLuck!

Lenovo T60 power port not working

If the docking station charging doesn't work either and your battery is ok you have lost voltage regulator (it prevents overcharging of battery) Take the battery to a battery plus store and they can check it..

Dvi port doesn't work with 23'' samsung monitor

yeah, you can set the display setting as extension display your DVI

Intel, ATI,Nvidia have tools also to set up,

i have ATI and use the ATI Catalyst tools and autodetect the monitors that i connected to my docking station, intel and nvidia also have this utility.

it depends on setting if u wanted the external monitor as CLONE monitor of your laptop or extension Monitor...

or they might have problem on DVI port of your docking station.

download and install the video utility ( must have .net installed before you install the utility)

the utility will detect your video ports (VGA,DVI,S-video)

let me know the update ..

T-60 will not seat properly in 2504 docking station.

I have the same docking station and I am typing this on my T60 right now. I have noticed that sometimes it is very hard to dock my laptop and other times it just slides on instantly. This seems to be an issue with poor design. If you look a the dock connector under you laptop you will notice there is a strip of plastic in the middle of two rows of connectors. The docking station connector must be perfectly aligned to successfully connect. I would inspect it for any damages, but honestly I think it is just an issue of patients, precision and a little bit of luck. If you can not identify any damage I would just slowly try to line it up and keep trying until it clicks. Remember to never force it and once it lines up it will slide in with very little force.

USB ports in docking station stopped working suddenly

I was having the same problem - the USB ports seemed to have stopped working so I could not use the mouse, keyboard, or printer, even though the monitors and power could still operate through the docking station. Finally, I just unplugged the docking station for 30 seconds, plugged it back in, and everything resumed working. I was surprised it was that simple, but it's working for the moment.
