Question about RCA L42WD22 42 in. LCD Television
My rca L42WD22 went from working great to "unusable signal". I thought it may be the dish so they came out and said it was the tv. It wouldn't pick up any channels or let me use dvd player. Took it to a repair shop and the guy said that it would be over $900- to fix it because I have to replace the digital board. But he said that maybe I should try to find the part online cheaper. Does anyone know the part number? The sites that I find require a part number and I have no idea what that is. Wal-mart won't let me take the tv back because I bought it from them refurbished even though I've only had it 5 months. If anyone can help me in any way I'd greatly appreciate it. I don't know what else to do.
The problem is a blown fuse on the top side of the board. It is about 2
inches from the tuner. There is a label 7c32 on the board. The part is
a 1206 surface mount fuse with a F on it. The F indicates it is .5 amp.
The reason they are all failing is because they undersized the fuse.
Replace it with a
This fuse is a little bigger. You can check the data sheet at digikey to get a picture when you are looking for it.

I am fighting with my extended warranty company right now. National Extended Warranty Corporation. Since Nov. 2 2008 when it started with the Unusuable Signal it has sat in our spare room covered with a comforter. One repair shop they sent me to said he would not look at my TV without me giving him my original receipt. NOPE!!!! He kept telling me that he had nothing from the warranty company.
So I called the BBB and he had a "rap" sheet 5 miles long. So now we are "searching" for another company. Going on four weeks and NO resolve.
Today I told a Supervisor I wanted a new TV, they could fix this one and sell it on Ebay. She then said Mrs. XXX are you refusing service? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, so now we wait another 3 to 4 business days for them to locate another repair shop.
What a scam. My TV is 13 months old. RCA checked out even though this seems to be a common problem.
I am disgusted. I will be filing charges or a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's office.

If the TV will play a HD input then the digital board can usually be repaired by replacing the fuse on the board. It's not a normal fuse and there is a updated part available so it won't go again. Any RCA authorized service center should be seeing many of these and should be able to take care of it.

Mine is in the shop right now for the same problem (my fuse is still good, though). After a couple of weeks, Thomas (RCA) decided to send me a new replacement. Because, the digital board is on "indefinate" back order. Meaning not available. If you have your receipt and it has been less than a year, they should be able to help.
The part number, if you still want it, is 274656. At least that is what I was told.

You will not be able to find that digital board! there are none available. but if the tech you talked to is rca authorized, there is a new fix for it very cheap. Its a 2 dollar fuse. Also i am willing to bet that if you hook it up through component or hdmi hook ups you will resume normal play. May not have sound though.
