Rca digital board? (by 4 users)

posted by babydol on May 06, 2008

My rca L42WD22 went from working great to "unusable signal". I thought it may be the dish so they came out and said it was the tv. It wouldn't pick up any channels or let me use dvd player. Took it to a repair shop and the guy said that it would be over $900- to fix it because I have to replace the digital board. But he said that maybe I should try to find the part online cheaper. Does anyone know the part number? The sites that I find require a part number and I have no idea what that is. Wal-mart won't let me take the tv back because I bought it from them refurbished even though I've only had it 5 months. If anyone can help me in any way I'd greatly appreciate it. I don't know what else to do.

I have had the same problem, however my lcd did not start doing this til ten months after purchase. I am going today to see if it is the same issue that all of you had...This t.v is highly recommeded if you want a t.v that does not work before it's one year date of purchase.

You will not be able to find that digital board! there are none available. but if the tech you talked to is rca authorized, there is a new fix for it very cheap. Its a 2 dollar fuse. Also i am willing to bet that if you hook it up through component or hdmi hook ups you will resume normal play. May not have sound though.

If the TV will play a HD input then the digital board can usually be repaired by replacing the fuse on the board. It's not a normal fuse and there is a updated part available so it won't go again. Any RCA authorized service center should be seeing many of these and should be able to take care of it.

Mine is in the shop right now for the same problem (my fuse is still good, though). After a couple of weeks, Thomas (RCA) decided to send me a new replacement. Because, the digital board is on "indefinate" back order. Meaning not available. If you have your receipt and it has been less than a year, they should be able to help.
The part number, if you still want it, is 274656. At least that is what I was told.
