My computer tells me I am not connected to a usb cable

I have an Evision 123 digital camera. When I go to Evision, it tells me my camera is not connected to a usb cable but I am connected to a usb cable. I connect it to the same usb cable that I use for my printer & it works fine. I have more than one cable but I'm just telling you that the same one I use on my printer does not work on my camera. Please help me solve my problem. I have photos on my camera of my mom's funeral that I want to download & it will not let me downloasd them. Charley Harrington

Try first disconnecting computer power cable for two minutes if it is a laptop also remove battery. Then connect everything back and test camera.

I want to download pictures from a digital camera on to my compaq presario cq56 but cant find memory card slot

Hi samantha_hic,
Actually, the memory card slot that you have in your laptop is not for storage devices but for your computer RAM. If you would like to transfer pictures from your digital camera, you have 2 options.
  1. I assume that when you bought your digital camera, it comes with a USB connector. Use that USB connector to connect your camera to your laptop for your to be able to transfer pictures.
  2. Buy a memory card reader, take out the memory card from your digital camera and put in on the memory card reader then connect it to your computer via USB. Once connected, you can now transfer pictures from your camera's memory card to your computer.
Hope this helps.

I am new at this computer stuff and i wanted to know how do you download pitures from a digital camera to the computer

There are a number of ways:
1). The digital camera will have a communications cable (likely USB) and probably a CD. Install the driver software on the CD and then connect the digital camera to the computer using the USB. Every other thing should be as easy as copy and paste. Or of the camera has a management software, it will give you options to sync with your Pictures folder.
2). You can save your shots on memory card inserted in the camera. Take the card out and connect to a computer that has card reader slot. Copy your files across.
3). So cameras have Bluetooth connectivity. With the same method of connecting two mobile phones using Bluetooth, you can connect your camera to a Bluetooth enabled laptop and copy the files via Bluetooth.

I want to put my video on my pc but im not sure what connections from camera to pc i have a sony and i only see on the pc a place for head phones or for a microphone

Your camera probably came with a cable that helps you do this. The cable has a rectangular USB connector on one side, and a smaller trapazoid connector on the other end. This cable connects your camera to your PC. The cable goes into the side of your camera, and the larger end goes into the BACK of your computer. There are usually 2-6 USB connectors on the back of the computer. It doesn't matter which one you connect the camera to - they're all the same. When you connect the camera, your computer should automatically come up with instructions. Good luck!

I would like to download pics from a digital camera to my computer but the computer is old. I see no port for digital card

Do you have the CD that came with your digital camera?

IF so, put it in your optical drive, and install the software.
This CD contains the drivers for your camera.
Drivers allow your computer to 'communicate' with you camera.

Now obtain the correct USB connector that plugs into your camera. Should be a male Micro, style of USB male plug,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:USB_types_2.jpg

The plug all the way to the left in the photo.

They sell USB cables that have this style of male USB plug on one end, and the usual USB A style on the other end of the cable.

Male. The male USB A style, is shown all the way to the right in the photo.

Looking at the usual style of USB plug, compare it's size to the Micro USB plug.

Yes, the female version of that plug is on your phone.

There is also a kit made by Philips, that has 5 different adapter ends of the USB style, in the kit.

The adapter ends just plug onto a male USB A style end.
The kit comes with a Male A USB to Male A USB cable.
It's rolled up on a tiny reel that is about 1 inch wide, and is retractable.
You just grab the ends of the cable, and pull out the length of cable you need.

This gives you an idea of what I'm referring to,

With the software from your camera installed on your computer, and the USB cable plugged from your camera to your computer, you are able to download.

Some camera's have it so you turn the camera on, and open the shutter. Your camera may differ. Check your camera user guide.

Another way is to buy an All-In-One card reader.
Plug a USB cable into it, and your computer.

This is an example,

Your card reader might have gone bad. You can use your card with a card to usb converter (which generally come for a very low price) and put the usb end of that device into your computer. Usually the usb readers does not need any additional software/driver for use. Then you can use a file manager (windows explorer) to read the new usb drive that appears in your file manager.

Is your card carrying any images from the camera. The card could be in an unknown format, if so you can try formatting it first, before using it in camera.

Downloading photos

Digital cameras have often an USB cable, which you connect between your camera and USB interface at your computer. Turn on the camera and your computer recognize the camera and install it as a drive. You can then transfer your photos from camera to the computer.

i think , when you bought your cam there must be a cable(usb cable) used for connecting your didgital cam with pc. if you are not having that cable then it won't be possible to connect or transfer your pics.
