Question about Gigabyte GA-8VD667K Motherboard

1 Answer

Once i inserted the second 512mb 2700 DDR card into the second slot on my GA-8VD667K motherboard, my computer refused to start up, it ran fine (but slow) with just one of these cards... i've seen 2 of these cards run in another machine that is the same as mine and want the same result as it had.

Are they the same type of memory for example "DDR PC2700"? You can run Dell Diagostics by turning off your laptop then power it on by pressing the power button and the windows key simultaneously and that should give you a better indicator of the issue.

Graphic card for GA-8IPE1000 series

HI there.
There are loads of makers of memory and graphics cards out there to choose from.
For the ram i would recommend Corsair or Kingston, you can get this ram as a matching pair so the both run at the same speed, the best ram to get is DDR 400.
As for the graphics card, i recommend ATI radeon X1650 Pro 512MB graphics card.
These upgrades will make your machine purr like a kitten with an excellent gaming experience.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Radeon graphics card and 3rd RAM slot conflict

I thought this board looked familiar to me. I recall some rules for the memory cards. Do all your memory cards meet this requirement:

Supports up to 3GB PC1600/2100/2700/3200* DDR SDRAMs

If you are using DDR 400 you can only use 1 slot.

What kind of memory are you using?

Can't Install RAM in DDR2 and DDR3 DIMM slots

You cannot use DDR and DDR2 ram at the same time, because its always been like that (ie, no SD and DDR, or SD and RIMM)

What you should do is switch to all DDR2 sticks.
