I dropped my ds outside not knowing it was there then it was snowed on for six months and the snow starting melting on it, and the bottom was faced up to the snow, will it still work and how can i dry it...

  • Sometimes it can recover. It is important to take your battery out. Now shake the unit a bit to work any real loose water out. Now put a fan on it for a full week maybe two. You want all the water out of it before you but the battery back in. Failure to do so will cause contacts on the circuit board to short out. There is no guarantee that the water damage is not to significant already but your best chances lie with the instructions above. Good luck.

Ds will not power on

Check the following:

Is it newly recharged?
- ...If it is, test the battery. Measure the voltage + - with a voltmeter. Getting 0 --> buy a new battery.
Have you recently by accident dropped it?
- ... Turn it in for service if you have a valid guarantee. Probably hardware error.
Have you exposed it to water by mistake?
-... Do not use it! remove the battery and let it dry for a couple of days (~3days), and then try to put the battery back and turn it on.

My son's nintendo ds has been charging for a day now, but it

The battery is probably completely drained. Rechargeable batteries have a certain lifetime in which they can be charged to. The charge limit for a Nintendo DS is approx. 500 charges. When you pass this limit the battery will no longer work. Your best option is to buy a replacement battery at
After a year or more a rechargeable battery won't last as long as it did when it was new.

I havent charged my ds for about 3 months and now when i plug it the yellow light comes on for about a sec. and turns off and it wont turn on how do i make it charge

well, here are some ideas as to why it might be like that...
1. Your battery is old, like how cell phone batteries die quicker the longer you use them, your ds may be the same way...
2. You have dropped your ds (have you in those 3 months of it sitting around?) and now the battery is loose or broken.
3. Just try to plug your ds charger into your ds, and see what happens. This should be the method that works, if your ds won't turn on, its because the batteries probably dead, just plug it into a wall outlet and see what happens...
Hope this helps you get started, GOOD LUCK! :-)

Please help

Open all the access doors and covers, take out the game, and put all parts in a ziplock bag. Get some dessicant bags (from old shoe boxes), cardboard pieces, or saltine crackers and put them in the ziplock bag also and put on top of your microwave oven or in the window where it gets direct sunlight. These items will help draw out all the moisture. I have done this many times on cell phones, gameboys, etc. and it works everytime.

Ds Lite Will not charge for longer than 5-10 seconds

It might be a defective battery. Try putting the new battery in a DS lite that you know works. If the other DS works with its own battery, but doesn't with with your battery, then your battery is most likely defective.

Or you could take the battery out of a good DS that turns on and can do everything, and put it in your DS. If your DS still doesn't work, even with the other DS's battery, then your DS might be broken.

The described problem you have happens normally if you dropped the DS Lite. So thats why Nintendo states that it must have been dropped. It would be difficult to proof that it not has been dropped.
