Try it with the flat sides together -- if this does not work then try it with the flat sides APART.

Never disassemble a lens. Only the outside surfaces need cleaning.

Took my tasco 20-60×60mm zoom spotting scope apart to clean the lenses and forgot how to put it back together

You can find manuals for Tasco products at the links. Because they are relatively in-expensive, I could not find an exploded view of parts replacement for it. I also looked on youtube for you, but no one has assembled one there.

My son completely disassembeled all the parts and lenses of his microscope. how can i find out how to correctly put it all back together?

The image is of a telescope. This type of scope has only one optical part in the tube, a mirror on the end opposite the focuser end. The smaller tube just goes in to the focuser and it uses a small screw to hold it in place. If the lenses are truly taken apart then there may still be hope as most critical optics are glued together with crystal clear glue.Clean them and reassemble.

the objective lense is actually 2 lenses...a crown and a flint..sounds like you have an air space between them as they are cemented together with canada balsom..it should not bother it to much unless the air space gets large...they have to be heated up, cleaned and recemented..gl...larry...capecod389@aol.com

Loss of clarity in spotting scope

depends on maker of scope, some models only come with i year, that should be the first warning, if you want to try something before going back where it was purchased ....take a q-tip put just a dab of alcohol on it, touch eyepiece lense with it, now turn around to dry side of q-tip and clean lense very lightly. this may do it where its 8 years old. you never mentioned the kind of scope.hope this helps...larry@reichinstruments.com

Cannot see anything out of main telescope

Do NOT use the barlow lens-- put the lowest magnification eyepiece into the scope-- practice focusing on the moon -- turn the focus knob slowly in and out until you get a sharp image.

Telescopes only show an area of sky about 1 degree wide or LESS--- this is about the size of the TIP of your finger held at arms length................ your scope is best used at low magnification.

There is no data

It may be just a dirty lense.. if it is the large style ps2 they are easy to take apart and clean the lense.. just use a q tip with very little rubing alcohol and clean it and remember were everything goes to put it back together.. its really not to hard to do.

Putting it back together

In 1965 I did the same thing with a Nikon single focal length lens my F Photomic. This lens was far more simple then a modern AF zoom lens. I had to bite the bullet and pay a camera repair man to fix the lens. He told me that had I not tried to fix the lens myself, the repair would have cost 1/4. The only answer to your question is to take it to a camera repair man and get a quote. I would check the quote against the price of your lens on E-bay and use that to determine if you want to fix your lens or replace it.

By the way, it is very rare for dirt between elements to be so problematic that it results in a degradation of picture quality.
