Sounds like one of the support arms holding the inner drum has failed. It is very expensive to repair, most of the time a new washer would be the cheaper than the repair. Sorry

During spin cycle the washer makes a loud thumping noise. Not a clanging/sharp noise. When I manually turn drum it sounds like something is loose inside. Like a ball may sound inside drum as it turns.

Is it a front loader? You may have something stuck between the tubs or it may be a broken "paddle" One of the plastic baffles that move the clothes around in the tub. they should all be tightly against the tub.

Kenmore elite washer troubleshooting

Sounds like your bearings are worn and need replacing... a horrible job. The frayed plastic may mean a new drum. To replace the bearings you must remove and separate the drum which requires removing the top, front, and back panels. Lots of clips, screws, hoses, wires.... I'd take it on if this were my unit; but for a client, I'd say get a new one. This is not uncommon for these units. Sorry.

LG front Loader Intellowasher 7kg WD-8015c has been on a quick 30 mins cyle and is still going after 1 hours just keeps spinning and won't turn off

I have the EXACT same problem wit the LG 8015C. After numerous attempts, I finally found the problem. A set of wires attached to the drum body vibrates against th erear panel, wears off the plastic insulation, shorts and blows the circuit board. All because of sloppy workmanship ! It took 4 years of easy work for this to occur. Will NEVER buy an LG or Front Loader again

The drum bangs against the washer during the fast spin. Pieces of plastic broke off. What could be the problem.

If your drum is belt driven, it may need adjustment. It should run straight from the motor wheel, directly around the barrel circumference. Chec for excessive wear. GOOD LUCK.....ABORN

Plastic part that the drum rolls on next to the door is broken

Yes that is a very common problem and they are available through G.E or your local appliance parts house...they are fairly easy to change........Be sure not to overload your machine excesive drum weight will cause them to wear out alot faster

I am considering purchasing a front load GE washing machine. I am curious if the inner drum and the outer drum are both metal? I am comparing the advantages of the GE front load with the Miele and the...

I can't speak for all, but my GE front loader has a stainless inner and a plastic outer tub. I don't know what the benefit of a all metal would be. The plastic outer tub seems to hold up fine, The only problems I have expereinced with the washer tubs were the bearing going bad after the seal failed, but its 10 years old. I consider that normal wear.

A hard plastic liner from my front loader dryer has broken off and now the dryer makes a loud noise when drying.

This sounds like one of the drum front plastic bearings has come out or broken, there can be as many as 4 or more of these bearings depending on make, you would need to replace all bearings regardless off wear.
Again, depending on make, this can be quite a job to do ,and on some makes it involves a strip down.Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Front loader washing machine - noisy spin cycle

A service engineer told me he thought there was a piece of wire caught behind drum and to see if it worked its way out. It hasn't because I don't think he's right. On spin the noise is sometimes so loud it sounds like the bearings have gone. Today I removed the fluff filter and discovered what appears to be shreaded grey plastic. If I can get a copy of the machine spec I might be able to discover where this has come from. Sorry this is not a solution. But as your symptoms are so similar check your filter and see if its full of shreaded plastic.
