SOURCE: will not keep running
Hey pal! this is an easy one...i suspect your atv has been in storage without putting a gas stabilizer in the tank and running it thru carb...Well your carb has gummed up jets luckily on a little 185 that carb is easy to remove. Turn it upside down, remove 4 screws holding bowl on then above the float there is 1 or 2 brass hollow srews which are jets...find a skinny srewdriver that fits these perfectly cause they are Soft metal and will gouge easily....remove and clean very thoroughly...reinstall is opposite of removal....if your thinkin' this is too much 4 you then take it to a competent mech....Good Luck to you my friend....Tim

SOURCE: i need to no how
generally this is what i do. warm up engine. shut down and count the number of turns to gently seat the mixture screw. jot that info down. Then remove the mixture screw and spring. spray carb cleaner in the hole for the mixture screw, using the straw that comes with the can. this will ensure you have a clear circuit. Replace the mixture screw and spring and set back to original setting. Start engine. now you can adjust mixture. turn in or out to achieve maximum RPMs. blip throttle to make sure there is no flat spot at that setting. if it sounds good then back out the screw 1/8 more to have a slightly rich mixture. That should do it
