HERE are the instructions for setting wireless encryption on your router. In this document there are 3 links. one for setting up 64 bit WEP, one for setting up 128 bit WEP and another for setting up WPA. It explains each one in detail so you can choose the right one for you. Just know that WPA is stronger encryption and therefore harder to crack.

SOURCE: router secure connection

The password you are changing only will protect the Administration of the router. You need to setup what is called, "Wireless Encryption" on your router's configuration. There should be a tab on the Configuration page at 192.168.1.1 which will have acronyms like WEP, WPA, etc. That's the page you want to configure for your router. Then your wireless connection will show up as a "Secured" connection from your pc.

SOURCE: The router was reset as other computers could not

You want to secure the wireless network.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.
Check the IP address on the computer. Open the router set up page.
Once you open the set up page, you will find the option to make it secured

I am using DLINK DWL-7100 Wireless AirPremier Access Point in unsecured mode. I cannot reach the logon page to enable security (192.168.0.50). Just keeps timing out.

To secure the router, first you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer) by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is usually 192.168.1.50 (default) The default administrative user name and password (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and bno password). If you cannot access it wirelessly, try accessing through wired connection. Otherwise, you can simply resetthe router to factory default setting, press and hold the reset button for few seconds (It is at the back of the router near the DC Power Jack). The LEDs will then blink and the routers factory settings wouls be restored.

Please note that after RESETTING THE ROUTER to defaults, ALL SETTINGS WILL BE LOST AND YOU HAVE TO RECONFIGURE IT. Generally, after hard reset you get the connectivity, however, you have to make the connection secure etc.
Please, refer the product guide/manual and make configurations as per the details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Laptop stopped connecting via wifi to home network.

The wireless settings in the Belkin has been setup with encryption.
You can restore the Belkin back to the factory default by powering up the Belkin and press the RESET button for 7 secs.
It is not wise to leave your wireless router unsecured, anyone can access your network and Internet connection and use up your allocated download limit. Once you exceed your download limit you could be slug with addition charges - this depends upon your contract with your ISP.

Linksys routers have a reset button that can be pressed with a paper clip.  Once reset, all of your settings will go back to default and your username and password will be reset to  admin for both.  Best of luck.

My neighbour has changed my password on my router

Most routers have a hardware reset switch somewhere on the device. You should be able to find this by looking at your user manual, or going online to lookup the location from the manufacturers website.
Once you reset the device to the factory settings you should be able to use the default password to log in and set a more secure password and secure your wireless if you haven't already done so.

Security

Till the time you put a access code for the wireles it would show it as a unsecure connection. You can change this by accessing the router page.Just type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of internet explorer.Than it would ask you for username and password. Its ussually admin and the password field blank.Than go to wireless settings and the security to WEP.than you can put a password of either 5 or 10 digits.U can put your phone # which would be easy to remember and than just save the setting.Next time when you would try to connet to it than it would ask you to put the access code and will show up as secure connection.
I hope that helps
