SOURCE: how to clean blades and/or how to remove fan cover for cleaning

I am certainly not an expert on this field; yet i have done this my self and this is what i did:

MOst fans have clips.
check where the from and back pieces attach. there should be several clips there remove them and voila.

if not there possibly check the centre pice of fan this may have a screw that holds front and back pieces together as well.

Pllease note you will also have to remove the legs from the side of fan as well. if the pic is the same one you have
Hope this helps

The fan catches when it is on and makes loud grinding noises

With the stove off, remove the back wall cover for the fan. Remove fan, clean and lubricate, if needed. Install fan after cleaning. Bend back wall cover so that it is bowed away from fan, if needed. and install.

It is making a loud noise as if it is catching onto something it comes and goes sometimes louder than first time it started

I'm guessing your problem is the fan in the oven. To fix: 1. with oven cold, remove back wall fan cover in oven. 2. remove fan. 3. clean and lubricate. 4. install fan. 5. install fan cover making sure fan is not touching. If cover does touch fan, gently bend cover away from fan and install.

REFRIGERATOR AND FREEZER NOT GETTING COLD. ERROR CODE 5Y.MODEL NUMBER LGUS2642LF2 SERIAL NUMBER 4A23305873

That error code is "SY" and not "5Y" and it is for the evaporator sensor error. You will need to replace the sensor. Here is the part to order.

The part comes with a 365 day, any part, any reason return policy.

Access the evaporator assembly cover in the rear of the freezer section. In convertible units that can function either as refrigerators or freezers, and is located toward the bottom of the unit on the inner back wall -- if necessary, remove the two lower glass shelves and the crisper compartments.

Remove the screws securing the evaporator cover to the freezer wall, using a Phillips screwdriver.

Pull the evaporator cover away from the wall just enough to access the electrical connection behind the cover. Be careful not to damage the gaskets on either side of the evaporator cover. Reach behind the cover and disconnect the electrical connection from its wiring harness. Remove the evaporator cover from the freezer.

Remove the wires inside the exposed evaporator assembly from their retaining clips, then squeeze the quick-connect mechanism to detach the wires from the fan motor.

Remove the two hex-head screws that hold the fan motor mounting bracket to the back wall of the unit, using a 5/16-inch socket or nut driver.

Remove the two hex-head screws holding the fan motor to the mounting bracket, using the 5/16-inch socket or nut driver, then pull the fan blade off the motor shaft.

Examine the fan to make sure the blades are not damaged; if necessary, replace the fan itself as well as the motor. Slide the fan onto the motor shaft.

Attach the new motor to the mounting bracket, using the 5/16-inch socket or nut driver to secure the two hex-head screws.

Replace and tighten the two hex-head screws that hold the fan motor mounting bracket to the back wall of the unit, using the 5/16-inch socket or nut driver.

Reattach the the fan motor wires by clipping them back into the quick-connect mechanism, and set the wires back into their retaining clips in the same manner as they were attached.

Set the evaporator assembly cover back into place, then reach behind and connect the electrical connection into the wiring harness.

Secure the Phillips screws that hold the evaporator cover to the freezer wall.

Replace the shelves and crisper compartments if they were removed, then plug the refrigerator into its power source and verify proper operation.

Fan will not work unless wall switch is on

A ceiling fan can be wired in different ways.I prefer to connect only the lights to the wall switch, and the fan to the hot,so the fan can be used when the lights are turned off.You will need to locate the circuit to the fan and turn off the breaker.Remove the cover at the ceiling to access the wiring. The fan wiring is usually labeled, but I believe the light wire is blue, the fan wire is black, and the neutral is white. The light wire and fan wire are probably both connected to the same feed. You will need to rewire the fan to the hot(black) house wire. The light wire is fed from the wire after the wall switch-leave this as is if the lights turned on/off with the wall switch. After the rewire, turn the breaker on before replacing the cover, and verify everything is how you want it before replacing the cover.I usually remove the light chain to keep people from using the chain instead of the wall switch.

Have a KDK stand fan that stop immediately after starting. It will stop whether using the remote control or pressing the fan start button

Hi,
If the an runs slowly and hesitates that means it needs some lubrication, drop a few oil in the mid part where the fan blade is located, manually rotate the fan until it loosen up.
Another cause might be the timer that is already broken and needs to be replace.

Hope that helps you out.

My dryer heats, tumbles, but takes several cycles to dry a load(small). Not much air coming out of vent and have cleaned vent out.Any ideas?

The fan that pulls the hot air through the dryer and pushes the exhaust out through the vent hose is plugged with lint. You will want to remove the cover on the fan and manually clean the fan out. I had the same problem with my dryer, I was astounded by the amount of lint that was trapped in the fan.
Also look inside the cloths drum on the back wall and make certain the hole in that wall are not clogged with lint also. Use a flash light and make sure the hole are perfectly clean.
Good luck, clean it all out and let me know.

The center strip that divides the fridge and the freezer is hot to the touch -- so hot it will burn my hand. How can I fix, and is there any fire danger?

Sir,
Sounds like there is a problem in the sealed system. Remove the rear lower cover and tell me if the condenser fan is turning. While there, is the Compressor hot to the touch?
Pull the unit away from the wall and then remove the rear bottom cover. Is the condenser fan running? If it's real dirty there, unplug the unit and clean real well. In the freezer section...look on the rear wall and tell me if you see any frost building up.
Thanks Good Luck

KDK A.C. Electric Fan needs repaired

The motor is temporarily dead. These fans had a thermal fuse that cut off whenever the motor exceeded certain temperature or if the fuse became defective due to it's own quality. The fan can be repair.
