Question about Samsung 204T 20" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I turned off my pc, with no problems, and when I turned it back on again, the monitor is displaying improperly. The blacks no longer exist, and the colors are washed out, slightly staticky, and mildly inverted. I didn't drop it or spill water on it or anything. The only thing I did was move my pc to the other side of the room. I've tried rebooting, fiddling with the color options, and unplugging and plugging back in.. Please help!

Check that the video cables are connected properly and secured with the screws.

Check that the display properties setting has the appropriate refresh rate setting for your flat panel's requirements.

I have a compaq cq1-1020 the computer turns on but not the monitor. I shined a flashlight on it and all I have is a black screen.

This is a common problem with Monitors usualy caused by flactuation of power supplied to the monitor or sometimes improper shutdown. The problem with your monitor is the capacitor(s) that are responsible for recieving and holding down electric charge for proper display on your monitor are damaged (burned out). The solution and probably the best, is to get a computer technician who can open up your monitor, identify the damaged capacitor(s) and replace them. Make sure to note polarity (-) and ( ) before removing the damaged capacitors. (damaged capacitors have a burged head or there's some liquid around it)

This is a problem with the CCFL bulb (the back light) or the inverter that powers it. This bulb is inside the lcd pannle and requires great care to replace. Some local PC Repair shops will be able to fix it however most will not. The inverter which is (most likely) the problem can be found on ebay for $20-30 USD and is easily replaceable it is general a small curcit board below the lcd pannle hidden in the bevel. However same times the board is merged into a much larger board which will be tricky to replace as it is specific to the monitor.

You might need to change the screen refresh rate. Go do Control Panel> Display> Setting> Advance, choose 60 Hz. In order to make your Monitor able to display, restart the PC, press F8 on the keyboard frequently upon splashing ( 1 or 2 seconds after PC restarts). Select enable VGA mode by pressing up arrow of the keyboard> press enter. The display should look bigger, then you can start adjusting the screen refresh rate to 60 Hz

Monitor displays the PC screen but switches off within 10 second

Unfortunatley your monitor is going out. I just had that problem. My sceen would come on, but after about 10min. it would blink off and turn black. I would have to hit the off button on the monitor, then turn it back on. It would work fine for a few minutes then black out again. I got a new/used monitor where I no longer have that problem.

I did check to make sure my hybernate was not activated, it wasn't, I had it set to never turn off.

Good luck.

Gateway monitor FPD1975W won't display

Same problem - unplug both computer and monitor - hold power button for monitor for 15-30 seconds...then power it back on and then power on the computer. Seems from other sites there is a power issue with the monitor - this worked for me.

Monitor keeps turning off

my first two ideas are....

1. Power setting/screen saver - this could be build into the monitor or a setting in the power options in the control panel.

2. improper setting for the monitor....this could be the refresh rate most likely.....right-click in a blank area of the desktop, go to properties, settings tab, advanced.....there should be an option in one of the tabs that has an option for refreash rate...make sure it is set to 60.....

If not one of these two things, than it is a faulty monitor......probably not worth getting fixed....hopefully still under warranty??

they normally turn off like this when they aren't receiving a video signal from the pc (same as when you turn off the pc). make sure that it is connected properly, and that the video output is activated. try disconnecting from the other monitor while its on and connect the problem monitor...if it still isn't working then there may be a problem with the cable or the monitor itself. Try another VGA or DVI cable. Hope this helps

man,, im not really an expert but based on my experience,, lcd monitor problems are quite serious.. if the problem was caused by heat or improper handling,, it is usually permanent.. if your notebook has a warranty,, go to a service center..
