Question about Garden

1 Answer

The safety switch will not turn on the mower; the battery is fully charged and was checked out by a mower shop (they won't work on this mower). Need wiring diagram for the switch, or an alternate way of running the mower, ie, getting around the switch.

This is a 20inch, Homelite electric push mower, not a rider. I don't know how this got into the riding mower section.

You must have the brand and model number to help you. There are thousands of models out there. If it won't start there are few basics. Check fuse, check safety switches. To start most mowers, must have clutch depressed, PTO disengaged. Some older models you must be in the seat to start too. Check all these switches. If you can get brand and model number might be able to help you further with wiring diagrams.

My countax 300 will not start there is nothing wrong with the battery

First check the safety switch under seat is working by bridging the gap.
Try the same with the safety switch on hand brake.
Check fuse hasn't blown.
Check spark plug is intact and cable is correctly fitted.
Check in line fuel filter.
Ensure battery is fully charged, a drop in output will result in not starting.
Hope this resolves the problem.

Is there a fuse on my bob villa 21 hp craftsman lawn tractor? The battery is charged but it won't start, won't even turn over.

Check you safety switches, brake, neutral, seat, blades, and reverse (if equiped). Then if that does not work I check the starting solinoid and the ignition switch.

Have a john deere sabre turn key won't start thought battery was dead charged battery still won't start jump start with car battery it will start then . try to engage reverse with blades running it...

Some mowers have a mowing reverse safety switch. That safety will kill the mower if you try to reverse with the deck engaged. Some mowers even have an override button that has to be held while backing up. As for the battery thing, no matter how much you charge a bad battery you will not get it to start a mower if it has a bad cell or two. I would use a multimeter to check battery voltage, but the end result would still be the same, replace the battery.

I hope this gets you going again.

Hi Tina, yes you can do as you asked and this will bypass the seat switch. No there is no need to disconnect the battery as the wires are not live unless the mower is running. Regards Phil.

YTH150, 15 Kohler engine will not turn over, battery fully charged, starter is ok. Any ideas?

here we go on the positive(red) lead on the battery there is an in-line fuse you can either follow it from the battery to the starter or from the starter to the battery. The other causes may be that the PTO is not fully disengaged, or the seat safety switch is not working( which you can bypass by taping them together). Hope This Helped Tim

Engine will not turn over

Those boxes are probably relays. Sounds as tho one of your safety switches is not working correctly. Make sure you have the machines brake on, blade off, and any other safety measures are applied, such as the operator is sitting in the seat. Check the wiring connections at all the connections where the safety features are installed. Probably just a connection that is not letting the system know that all systems are indeed applied.

TAKE A PIECE OF HEAVEY WIRE AND RUN IT FROM THE POSITIVE POST ON THE BATTERY AND TOUCH IT TO THE STARTER POST SEE IF THE STARTER WORKS. IF IT DOES CHECK ALL THE SAFETY SWITCHES ON THE SEAT, DECK , BREAK ECT SEE IF THIS HELPS
