I am having the same problem that everyone else with a chrysler 300 either has already experienced or will experience. My gear shifter stick is stuck in park. I read on this site a few minutes ago where it might be a fuse that works the break that allows the gear stick to be moved from the park position when the break is applied. According to the owners manual and the fuse box there is no fuse that operates the break, Then I read that there is a microswitch that works the solonoid switch which might be the reason that the gear stick is stuck in park. According to the owners manual there is no micro switch or a soloniod. What I have discovered is that there is a bad pink release part in the gear box that is easy to replace but chrysler does not sell the replacement part but they will only sell you the entire gear box with the small replacement part in it for a cost of $350 to $450 depending on your engine size. Chrysler is aware that this is a faulty part but refuses to recall the part.

Recalls are only for safety reasons. No one is going to get killed if your car wont shift out of park. There is a fuse, I dont know where you get info from. Usually its the same switch that works the brake lights, if they work, the switch and fuse is good. the shifter is most likely bad, just fix it. You can always call a Salvage Yard and buy a used one, then replace it when it fails again, and again.

If you read my complaint, the one that you replied too you would know exactly where I got my informations sir. I plainly said the owners manual and if you don't want to believe what I'm telling you then get a chrylser 300 touring owners manual and look for your self. However I don't need your help at this point we took our car this morning and it was exactly what I said it was the entire gear box had to be removed and a new one put in simply because chrysler doesnt make the replacment for the pink washer type part available to the consumer. Ther is a tiny spring holding the part in place and you just remove the spring slip the pink thingy off the rod put the new one on and put the spring back in place and bingo its fixed. But chrysler wouldn't make all that money now would they.

So the owners manual doesnt have a fuse diagram showing what fuses are where? So you are saying the brake switch that operates the brakes and the shifter doesnt have a fuse? Fuse number 8 is what works the brake lights, Fuse 44 works the Ingegrated Power Module. You didnt have the entire gearbox replaced, thats the TRANSMISSION. If all you needed was a "pink washer", I'm sure that can be found. Why did you have the whole "gearbox" replaced? I'm sure you mean "shifter assembly" You wanted free advice, and you got free advice, just because you had to pay the dealer, dont get mad at me. I didnt build it, design it, or sell it to you.

Coming from the movie, we tried to move the 300 from park. It would not move! This is extremely ridiculous! Why does some have to be hurt in order for recalls to be granted? It's the same thing is someone is pregnant or gets ill and you need to get them to a hospital. Shame on you Chrysler!!!

Most cars there is a way to Bypass this (so you wont get stuck) I'm not familiar enough with your 300 to say it has one or not. Some cars if the key is turned to ACC you can move the shifer, but not when ON or Running. So you turn key, then shift into Neutral, then start the car, I wouldl ook in the owners manual. Nobody ever reads that!

Can,t get my chrysler 300 out of park

Shift interlock system problem maybe. This is a safety system that will not allow the gear selector to be moved from park unless the driver pushes on the brake pedal. Electrically controlled locking solenoid inside gear selector assembly , switch on brake pedal ,wiring , may even have the BCM - body control module incharge . Does the vehicle have console shifter or on the steering coulmn ? Could have a hole in the console to stick a thin screw driver in to disengage it . You don't say what year the vehicle is ? So can't look it up .

I have a 2005 Chrysler 300, As I shifted the car from park to reverse I heard and felt a pop in the gear shift. The gear shift moves but the car is stuck in low.

Go to the Prindle switch where the cable meets the transmission and check if it has not unhooked. Move the shifter all the way to the Park position and adjust/tighten.

My chrysler 300 shifter is stuck in park? how do i release the interlock so the shifter will go into gear?

pull up and out on the small storage compartment to the right of the shifter, this will uncover a small pink lever...that is the emergency release. If that don't work...the problem is further down on the shifter and requires removing the console, more work, and some new parts. Good luck, i hope this helps.

Trying to locate the gear shift release button in my chrysler 300

The shifter has two problems that does not let you go out of park, either you push the overide pink button thats on the right interior edge of shifter that releases it... If that doesnt work its another pink pin in front of the shifter, you would have to take shifter console apart to get to it and release it. This is usually the problem.

Good luck, I hope this helps.
