Make sure that the latest firmware is installed on your ADSL2+ gatewayand make sure that you select the correct modulation based on your ISP's recomendation, you can check those settings by accessing the configuration page of the device using your browser(IE/Mozilla/Safari), the default IP address is 192.168.1.1 username and password is "admin" here's a link for the user interface of the router.

http://ui.linksys.com/

oh also check if your micro filter is still working properly sometimes that will also cause the connection to drop if it's also ready failing.

hope this help you solve your connection problem

Xbox live connection keeps dropping

It can either be your internet connection, your adapter cable, or your router. I have had lots of problems with my internets router and I have Linksys so if you have that same type it might just be the routers connection. Did you try hooking up your 360 straight to your internets modem? My fiance does this with his 360 because he has had problems with the router and the connection. Maybe try to disconnect your router it and let it sit for a couple of minutes and then reconnect it and let it reset before you reconnect it to your 360. Also you may want to call some type of support either for your internet or your router. They may be able to help in some way. It seems like everyone I know has gone through at least one 360 system. We had to just replace ours also after having it for under a year. The only system that I haven't heard complaints about is the 360 elite but the price is too much for us to get one. Anyway good luck and hope I helped a little bit.

Can't access internet without unplugging modem and router

as long as your modem has the internet light your modem should be fine.. for the router you might want to configure it to option IP Address automatically and distribute dhcp automatically..if it doesnt work try to update your router's firmware best thing to do is to get a new router ..

Well i had just bought a lynksys router from my friend with no software cd so right now i am trying to download the software online so when i switch my cox modem with the linksys modem i want the software...

You should be able to get any software that you need from LinkSys.com but I have a couple of quick questions first:

1. Is the LinkSys unit you just purchased a router or modem?

If the unit is a router, you are still going to need a Cox compatible modem. If the unit is a modem, you will still need a router to complete the network setup unless LinkSys makes a combination cable router/modem, and I haven't been able to research one.

2. If it is a modem, is it a cable modem and, if it is, is it Cox compatible?

According to the Cox Web Site, the only models of LinkSys modems that are currently compatible with the Cox High Speed Cable Internet Service are:

BEFCMU10 v3
BEFCMU10 v4
WCG200
WCG200 v2
CM100

In this particular case, you may need to contact LinkSys and/or your Internet Service Provider. In most cases, they will not only tell you exactly what type of equipment you need, they will also talk you through setting up the network once you have the equipment - usually at no charge.

While connected on the internet (wireless) if we leave the computer idle for few minutes without touching anything it disconnects, and takes some time before we can reconnect again. The screen saver is not...

It could be a time-out setting that is on the router or a setting inside the computer. It could also be malware that has gotten in and affected certain settings that mess with the internet. Have you noticed any weird things going on with the computer lately?

Wireless network

She would need a wireless card. Make sure the 802 standard is the same as the router supports. An n wireless card will not work on a router that is a g. you can also enter the settings of the router to make sure it is set to the accept the standard she uses on her wireless. my linksys can do b and g... but i have it set to only accept g. make sure you set security on the router when you have a connection establish so you aren't sharing your internet with wireless neighbours.

Do I have to keep my Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway Model No. wAG54S Switched ON all the time even after I have finished using the computer?

No, you don't have to keep the linksys router ON if you are not doing anything over the internet.But if you are downloading any file on the internet while you are away ,it needs to be ON.

All devices which requires internet to work and are connected with Linksys will not work as soon as you turn it oFF.
Linksys =OFF
Internet=OFF

Wireless g wrt54g router

First of all, are you connecting with a PC or a Notebook?

If you have the Linksys router, you should replace the MS utility with the Linksys utility it figures your linksys wireless lan card
There are programs you can use to keep track of your router and connections...One such program is called Port Mapper...

http://3d2f.com/programs/34-197-port-mapper-download.shtml

Does your problem happen everday...or every 3 weeks...are you doing anything in particular when you are getting the inability to use the connection?
There is a new Vista patch out there I recommend downloading.
