1. Turn off printer.2. retaining button Stop/Reset (red triangle in the circle) press button POWER - indicator it will light up with green color.
3. let go button Stop/Reset, continuing to hold POWER.
4. press button Stop/Reset 2 times, while holding POWER button, after which you will let go all buttons.
5. when indicator is lit BY Solid GREEN - press Stop/Reset 4 times! (this is the key)
6.turn off printer by POWER button, then turn on.
7. You should be set. If it didn't work, try it again, slowly. It WILL work!

Try scanning using the following method
Open Word document
Click on Insert - Select Picture - Select Scanner or Camera
In the popup window, check whether the Canon MP180 option appears, if so, select the same, this should scan the document.
If the Canon MP180 doesn't appear, then the drivers are not installed properly, you can download the same from canon.com

I finally got a solution to my problem, which is the same as this one. When trying to scan via USB, you have to make sure the unit is set to USB. On the top panel just above the LCD display, is 3 buttons, Copy, Fax, Scan. Hit the SCAN button, till the display says USB SCANNING. Then try to scan again. Good luck!!

1. Turn Off
printer, cable power still plug in.
Stop/Reset button, don't release the button.
3. Press Power
button by holding without release and than release Stop/Reset Button.
Stop/Reset button two times (2x) now release the Power Button.
5. Wait until
service mode to zero (0).
6. Turn off
the Printer, cable power still plug in.
Stop/Reset button, don't release it.
8. Press Power
button don't release & than release Stop/Release button.
Stop/Reset button four times (4x), wait until service mode to "1"
10. Turn off
printer, and loose cable power, wait for one (1) minute.
11. Connect cable power, turn on printer again, now this printer ready to use.
