Question about Fujitsu LifeBook T4220 Tablet PC
When a fan appears to be working laboriously it is almost never a problem with the fan itself. The motherboard has a sensor which tells it that the temperature is too hot and commands the fan to run to remove the heat by pushing the hot air out of the laptop.
Look at the vent where your fan pushes out the heat on the side or bottom of the laptop. You will see a row of slender blades. These blades are attached to a copper bar which runs to a copper alloy metalplate on top of the processor. The fan blows on these blades to disperse the heat out of the laptop by drawing it away from the processor.
If dust collects in the blades, it blocks the air flow created by the fan, the laptop interior heats up and the sensor tells the fan to run harder.
1. Find a friend with an air compressor and spray nozzel and blow out your laptop at NO MORE THAN 40psi.
2. If the fan draws air in from the bottom of the laptop, DO NOT EVER rest the laptop on bed covers or anything that blocks the in vent.
3. Go on the internet to the Fujitsu laptop support site and locate your laptops "Drivers and Downloads" site. Download and install the latest BIOS which may compensate for changes made to the operating system through updates.
I can go much further into other solutions but they involve advanced disassembly operations. The suggestions above will usually solve most problems with fans running too often.
Best Regards and Good Luck
