All red, sounds like a bad cable connection or bent pins in the cable connector ends, visually inspect them. If the red you speak of is very faint and uneven it could also be the backlight in the monitor failing, but likely a loose cable

What does it mean when your computer says auto adjusting in progress, and its not the screen?

its on a dell monitor right
apparently these monitors have always had this problem some have'nt some have
no-one knows why not even dell
here are one post on how to fix the problem

Hey, I found a recent posting by someone else with the same prob----their solution seems to work (so far!)
Try this: click "turn off computer" but don't turn it off....your wallpaper turns the typical "gray" color in prep to shut down---on the monitor, hit the "plus" button to execute an "auto adjust"---do this about 3 times.......
so far, it works!

hope it helps

My computer's all windows screen has suddenly shrunk today with a black border in right and left side. Now how can I get ride of this problem and make my windows screen normal again?

It's probably the monitor either was adjusted or is having a problem.

Use the buttons on the monitor to adjust the horizontal width on the screen...This should stretch your windows display across the screen if you adjust properly. Most monitors also have an auto adjust option...you can try that too.

I can't tell you exactly what the menu options are, because I don't know the buttons on your monitor. but if you find the menu, you should be able to make the adjustment.

Good Luck

Auto Adjust not working

The monitor is bad.
It's all over the internet... It seems to be a lot (of production line) issue... I am in BRAZIL and I bought one that's behaving the exact same way.
Dozens of forums in Portuguese (our language here, ICYDN) relate the same problem... Also checked English and German... STAY AWAY FROM THE T220.

Auto adjusting

Try wiggling the auto adjust button on the front of the monitor, it sounds like the button is jammed against the switch causing it to auto adjust over and over.

Too bright

I just bought an Acer 19 inch this morning and I am assuming you have the same controls on the bottom of monitor. On mine I push the menu button twice....the left arrow once to select the brightness slider.....push the menu button again to turn slider red and active...then use your left or right arrows to adjust brightness...afterwards you use the menu to get you back to the exit button and that's it....I hope Don

Colors are off after auto adjust

I seem to have found the solution (and the cause, perhaps?) for this problem!

I was having the EXACT same problem with a monitor I'm repairing for a friend. The capacitors on the power supply board were blown (CapXon capacitors, who'd've guessed), which was keeping it from powering up. After replacing the capacitors, the screen worked beautifully. But it had this weird yellow tint!

The strange part was that pure colors - red, green, blue - all appeared perfectly OK on screen. Curiously, the menus would show in the proper colors, except for one: the manual color adjustment menu, which illustrated "Blue" as a sort of off-green in the icon. Auto-Adjust would always fix the colors for a split second, then go back to yellow. Reset didn't fix it. Color reset didn't either. So, exactly the same problem as above.

The solution I found was hidden within the main menu itself, a sort of "easter egg". Hold the Menu button down while pressing Power, and hold it down until the screen, and menu, appear. There will now be a hidden selection, "Auto Color", printed in a red-on-black font at the bottom of the menu. Use the +/- buttons to access it, and press Menu. Voila! PERFECT COLOR! Perhaps this menu was accessed by accident, and calibrated to an incorrect color key. But now my picture works great, and the setting lasts through Auto-Adjusts and Resets!

Hope this helps some people, it sure saved my ****! ;)
